Description

This is my first ever custom PC build, I have always loved PC's but when I was 13 and stubborn I decided I wanted an iMac so I saved up and bought one of them (regret now, should have stayed PC) This build came in just under £660 and only took like 2 hours to build which I was quite please with being that I haven't done it before :)

Thankfully there was no DOA parts and all went fairly smoothly besides the graphics card came 5 hours after all of the other components (stupid APLE shipping @ amazon)

Please let me know any tips or improvements I could make to this system! Keen to learn :)

I intend to buy another 2-3 case fans as there is only 2 case fans and 2 CPU/GPU fans so its quite toasty in there :/

Cheers

ps. JayzTwoCents is an awesome guy!

I love this case. I would not have gone with the Club 3D Version of the 7870 XT, but this is a similar build to what I will be getting in the summer. Although if I can conjure the cash, then I will go with Haswell.

Whats wrong with the Club 3D version?

I would just say that is inferior to the sapphire version. I don't know much about Club 3D as a company, but I know that sapphire usually has reliable hardware and the sapphire has a dual fan cooler. Just my two cents. You are the one with the computer, not me, and if you are happy with it. Great!

I did actually consider the sapphire card however I looked at some reviews and they said that the cooling was not very good and that the fans were quite loud so I opted for the Club 3D card. The Club 3D card also came with free games where the Sapphire version didn't include them from what I could tell on Amazon.

Thanks though and it is great!

Does the name have anything to do with Sjin?

Sjin from yogscast? nahh, I called it the Iced Joker because the blue fan is more of an icy colour on the front and I have the 7870XT Joker graphics card ;)

Where does he say the price that he bought his power supply for?

People don't always have to buy it with PCPartPicker price. There's always sale and other things, so there's a chance that he bought it cheaper.

Yeah the PSU was more expensive then say a modular corsair one, but when I looked on the newegg expert site the had it all tiered and the Antec HCG series was rated in tier 1 or 2 where the cosair psu's were rated tier 3/4/not recommended so I went with the antec and I'm very happy.

I couldn't afford the 212 in my build due to going from a 7870 -> 7870xt.

Yeah but I already surpassed my initial budget of £600 and my parents said they would put the extra towards it, so I didn't want to take the piss and add even more stuff! I got away with adding a PCI wifi card and a gpu upgrade so all in all I'm very happy :)

If only looking at quality, the Antec HCG could match Corsair. If taking price into account, corsair probably wins.
