Description

This is an upgrade from my previous build: Dream PC not so much in specific components, but aesthetically speaking. (Sorry for bad english, nerdy dude from Argentina here =D )

I fell in love with the Corsair Carbide Air 540 case, and after some research, I found that I also loved Corsair components. Case fans are absolutely gorgeous, and it's all synced by CUE. It is possible because I bought not only the Lightning Node Pro, but also the Commander Pro where I have everything plugged in to. I also decided I wanted a build that is satisfying to look at, so got really better with cable management.

I've been throwing loads of code to compile and this literally kills it, compiling time is almost non-existent. Everyday usage of the PC is as fluid as you can imagine. And gaming is also phenomenal, 3440x1440 gets full 100 fps at almost any game I throw at it.

**And here is where it gets actually interesting**

Dream Build V 3.0 (in the making) (Should I spoil it will be fully water cooled????)

My plan is to now replace the 1080 Strix, and I need your help deciding what should I go for. I will absolutely 100% no doubt, no exception, go for 1080 Ti in SLI. BUT I'm seriously having doubts with what GPU card to choose for this. I don't know if I should just go with 2 FE and utilize that shorter length of a card for a better 360mm RAD in the front, despise just having a 6+8 pin connection. And go all the way and get two 1080 Ti STRIX or (hmmm) Poseidon cards.

Hope you like it!!

Part Reviews

CPU

Absolute beast, actually clocked really high and at a decent temperature

Motherboard

I MUST INSIST! THIS IS THE BEST MOTHERBOARD FOR X99 CPU

Memory

Very good overclocking, reaching the described 3200 mhz

Video Card

After tweaking it's OC for a while, reached a very good 2101 boost clock with a decent temperature

Monitor

As long as there's no 4K@(min)90hz , I will still say this is the setup to choose!

Keyboard

Now we're typing, I mean talking. This is a keyboard with awesome quality, and having the brown switches is like a mini org*sm every single time I press any button.

Mouse

Great mouse, maybe not so sure I was right about picking this one over the Scimitar

Really amazing build, it looks spectacular. Also, on a side note, good choice on the keyboard, it is a really good keyboard. I just bought one with brown switches a month ago and it is amazing

Nice build. How far did you push the clock and memory? I am curious to know as I have the same card.

Thanks!! While not always being steady, I get from 2115 to 2151 mhz, and a memory clock of 10500 approx

Wow! That's pretty good. I use MSI Afterburner and have it 125 on the clock with 200 over on the memory. With those settings I see about ~2000 on the gpu and ~5000 on the memory. Nice build again!

I love the color! I do have a question because I was considering getting RGB fans to light up the inside of my case. I don't want to do led strips as i feel like it shows too much dust on the side panel (mine is dark tempered glass). Do the fans give off a good amount of light on their own?

Yeah, they give a good amount of light on their own, specially at night. But if you have just 1 led strip at the bottom, that would rock it because not so much light going to the part below the GPU card!

What can you say about the case im thinking about getting it.

It really is a great case, it's got great air flow and plenty of room to build. I would really recommend it, specially if you don't plan on doing a custom water cool. I plan on do it, but man it will take me loads of planning!

Awesome build dude. That K95, I've been debating upgrading my keyboard, you may of just made the decision for me though lol. Oh and that 1080 you can just toss that right in the trash if you upgrade... into my trash can preferably :) Tight work though.

Hey i have the air 540 and i wanna have the corsair 280mm on top but theirs yours the h115i and theirs the h110 and h110i and gtx models. Im worried about space but i just wanna know which corsair 280mm is the best for the top of this case please.

Also i was wondering sonce so many people have issues with 280mm rads up top and having to turn them around and upside down, would putting a 15mm thick slim fan on the back of the case for exhaust give the rad enough room for the pumps and eveeything to go down the back side? Also would using a 15mm fan be enough to exhaust the air from case??

For 3.0, I'd totally recommend going with a MSI 1080Ti and EKWB waterblocks.
