Description

Here is my HTPC. I used to run a Sapphire HD 7750 Low profile card in my HTPC, however it took forever to load movies streamed through netflix and the sound quality was terrible. I won the Gigabyte HD 7850 in a poker game(my friend couldn't cover the buy in so he put up his card as collateral). I might install Battlefield 3 to see what this little guy can do now seeing how this computer is connected to my 46" Sony Bravia tv. Mainly this will be used to stream movies and blu ray playback. The WD Green 1.5TB hdd was not being used, so I decided to throw it in for the hell of it.

EDIT: Did some benchmarking using Battlefield 3 MP. In 64 man conquest assault with settings set to Ultra in Operation Firestorm I was averaging 49.8fps with a min of 37fps and a max of 81fps. In 28 man Gun Master with setting set to Ultra in Scrapmetal and Donya Fortress I was averaging 51.9fps with a min of 40fps and a max of 60fps. Not bad at all for a Gigabyte HD 7850 2GB card at stock settings.

You know you're a true geek when you wager off computer parts during poker xD Awesome HTPC! Definitely get BF3, the 7850 will be able to handle it decently with the i3, you'll just need to turn down the details to maybe high.

I have this same case. The included power supply choked about a year into it. 3v rail was way too high (pushing almost 4.5 volts) and the 12v was down to somewhere around 10 volts. I would suggest replacing it at your earliest convenience or at least regular testing to make sure it is still operating within spec.

Get yourself an xbox controller and steam big picture mode. It's a really great gaming experience, and this hardware should perform very well for that purpose.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm watching this power supply like a hawk. I usually don't buy cases with power supplies, but I made an exception for this case.

Gotta love it. I was smelling a voltage regulator frying itself, so I ordered a new power supply last night. Turned the computer on this morning, then snap, crackle, pop power supply is dead. Now I'm checking to make sure my other components didn't get damaged.

I'm interested in some benchmarks for the CPU/GPU combo. Could you post a few when you get a chance? :)

I just got done posting the benchmarks using 3DMark and Battlefield 3 MP.

Those are some really solid FPS and the card is not overclocked. Thanks for posting that, I appreciate it :)

Love it! And TOTALLY get BF3 I have a 7850 with a 3570k, and it can max it out with 2x MSAA, with a 3220, you should be able to get 60+ fps at high. Love the case also!

Thanks and good call on BF3. At 4xMSAA and everything set to Ultra I'm getting around 50fps.

Yep! And also, try lower the MSAA to 2x. It looks almost identical, and gives you around 8-10 more frames.

Thanks. I saw an increase of 5-12fps just by lowering the MSAA to 2x.

Best cable management I've seen so far in a HTPC.

Haha omg that win :P ! Great job.

P.s. you made a small typo in your title, there is no such thing as an Intel core i3-3320 (not yet).

Way to not go overboard on the CPU for what you're doing! Build looks good overall though! Nice job.
