Not bad for first go at it. Pretty powerful for amount spent. Already looking forward to next build.
Used for graphic design, video editing, browsing, office applications, and gaming.
I'm curious about a few of the sections you've made here, since your description doesn't describe what you'll be using this build for. Obviously gaming at least lol.
What made you choose the 32GB RAM kit as opposed to 16?
If you had spent less money on other parts would you have spent more on a better CPU cooler?
For example, 6TB of storage is A LOT for a brand new build unless you've carried over a ton of stuff from previous builds, or if you simply must have the space. Some do. You could start a 500GB m.2 and a 1TB HDD, and should you need more space down the road you can always upgrade. With that money saved you could have an AIO to really overclock that 8700k.
Interested to see what your thought process was, but overall you've built quite the beast here. +1
Thanks! I do a lot of graphic design and video editing, that's why I went with 32 GB Ram kit (looking to go even higher for next build).
CPU cooler was a mistake, definitely plan on going with AIO next build. It keeps CPU at descent temps even while overclocking but it's loud and could be better.
Storage, as discussed above, some of my projects are pretty large, so I'm content with choice on storage. Plus the 5TB HDD was relatively cheap ($120).
One thing I will say as a previous H440 owner.
Do not under any circumstances use a cloth to clean the acrylic. I scratched it with a microfibre cloth. A clean fresh from packet microfibre cloth.
O O F
Thanks for advice.
please clean up the cables, this build is really making me think
haha I'll get right on that!
Awesome build! Loved the case
Case choice is interesting. Why the H440 over the H700i or the S340?
I wondered that too. Maybe it's going to be some sort of storage server and needs all those 3.5 cages.
In hindsight, I'd pick a different case. H700i or S340 would've been better.
Next build, I'm thinking of going open chassis for increased air flow and easier customization. I'm looking at Raidmax X08 or Cougar Conquer right now, leaning towards X08.
Ohhhh sick, those cases look awesome man. Why wait till next build? Sure it's not the beauty of unboxing and installing fresh components but when I bought and installed all my parts in the h400i instead of h200i on accident, when I got the right case I had even more fun taking apart and then re-building in the h200i! :D
yeah maybe I'll do that, good call, could be fun!
