Description

This one I built for my girlfriend who plays Blizzard games, so I didn't have to build anything high-end. Although, I wish I bought a better CPU, but it's performing quite well for Diablo III on the highest settings. My gf loves purple, so Corsair conveniently had purple LED 120mm and installed cathode tubes underneath. She looks beautiful!

My first plan was to install the H80i at the back-end, but I couldn't fit it with the top side 120mm fans, so I had to ditch the 200m on the front and mount the H80i there. Also had to ditch the DVD drive as well, those extra hard drive cages are useless to me.. good thing I had USB external DVD drives.

I fit the pump and the radiator before the RAMs since it was going to be super tight with Corsair Link cables plugged in, I even had to nudge the pump over slightly off center.

I had fun drilling the bottom holes for the cathodes to run through. I also stuck grommets in the holes to keep the wires from fraying over time.

Yeah I agree you could've done so much with 1000 dollars. That CPU just makes me cringe when I see 1k in the total.

I may have been an idiot for listening to this guy lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIT9uLDjZcg

The point of the video was saving money on the CPU to spend more money on the GPU, but instead of doing that you overspent on the cooler, motherboard, and SSD. Like here is what you could have done pcpartpicker

Yeah, I can't justify spending so much on your SSD and CPU cooler.

A drive thats half the price will perform at almost the same speed as the super high end (what you have), and won't even be noticeable when using the computer. That cooler is complete overkill, as Blizzard games won't even stress all 4 cores.

While I agree with most of your picks, those two mentioned above killed it. We all get tempted to get the very best (a.k.a. shinney things).

The motherbaord is fine (regardless of what others say), as you didn't drop a wad of cash on it like the other parts. At least you know you can overclock that CPU and the board will hold its own.

Last, but not least, +1. Your GF must love you :D

I agree with you completely, I should have researched more builds before going into it.

I can't seem to settle with the current CPU anymore. I want to make better use of the components I have now, so would A-10 6800K be a good replacement in the near future?

Once I get a replacement, the Athlon will be used to salvage my dead PC.

No the A10 is pretty much the Athlon with good integrated graphics, you either have to wait for more fm2+ CPUs to come around or switch to an INtel socket.

Yeah just don't trust Avans Eustin. He does do good budget PC builds but you should just do bit more research on 1k build. Try PC generators I use them for builds I make for people and then adjust them to their liking.

Check out Carey Holzman's builds too. He does a lot of builds at various price ranges and typically picks pretty quality parts.

+1 only because i feel bad you listened to that stupid youtube person

my athlon 750k at 4.6GHz never hits 50C under a Hyper TX3, thats weird that yours hits 54C on an h80i

i know that it's in a small case, but seriously..

You could have done so much better for the price, sorry -1

Thanks for your input, any suggestion on one or two piece(s) I could have purchased instead?

maybe get a cheaper air cooler and upgrade the cpu

You should have dropped the closed loop water cooler and gotten an air cooler, the motherboard is a bit overpriced making the cheap CPU not worth it something like this would have been much better, pcpartpicker

not to be mean but waste of money
