Description

Thanks for getting this to be a featured build :)

This is not finished, much like a ubisoft game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

READ FIRST

I know there will be some people crying about a £180 loop on a £50 Cpu - this is not my main rig, if you would care to see said rig click here

I added some pics of how I mounted the res

This time I needed a pc that my friends could use if they were at my house, this meant a pc that was pretty small so it would fit next to my main pc and also for it to be reasonable cheap yet powerful; I also wanted to watercool it, because it is fun. Below is the parts I used for my water cooling loop

  • Pump: Phobya 12v pump (See question at the top)
  • Radiator: Magicool 240mm slim radiator
  • Reservoir: XSPC Photon 170mm
  • CPU block: EKWB MX supremacy
  • Fans: Yate loon 120mm fan x 2
  • Fittings: XSPC 14/10mm triple compression fittings
  • Fluid: Mayhems UV white
  • Tubing: XSPC PETG 14/10mm

Problems

  • Took a week extra because my monsoon pipe inner did not fit XSPC tubing although it was still 10MM ID (Very stupid) Lesson to be learned is always to match your tubing brand with your tubing inner brand
  • bending pipes that are diagonal is not easy and can take up hours if enough planning is not put into it
  • Pump is extremely loud and am hoping I can find a way to stop that

What went well

  • Overall looks very nice and I am happy with the bends
  • Silicone lottery was won with a 5ghz cpu
  • Top mounted reservoir looks cool
  • Pretty much everything else

Future upgrades (Feel free to link me any products)

  • Somthing to quiet down my pump
  • White led strips
  • White braided cables

Feedback

Any feedback is welcome. (Except telling me that I am stupid for spending so much on a loop, I enjoy it)

Yeah a fan controller would control the pump. I recommend the sentry mix 2. +1 for Dank maymays

  • 3 points

Thank you so much, i've been looking everywhere and couldn't find anything on pumps and fan controllers

  • 2 points

I don't know about Gigabytes motherboards, but on a Asus Gryphon motherboard I would get an "error" code at the beginning of a boot due to the fact that the pump wasn't running yet. The motherboard thought the pump was faulty; however, it wasn't that it was faulty, it was that the PC was still cold and thus there was no need for the pump to turn on (it automatically turned on when it reached 25 degrees Celsius). Long story short, if you do switch over to a fan controller, you may need to enter the Bios at the beginning of your boot, and head on over to your fan profiles and turn off the sensor which tells you whether your CPU pump is on or off. After I turned off my sensor, the PC turns on without a problem (even if the pump hasn't turned on at the beginning).

  • 1 point

Thanks man :) not sure if my pump even has a temp detector its a pretty basic pump

  • 1 point

Oh, mine doesn't have a temp detector either, I meant that the motherboard automatically monitored the 4-pin CPU fan connector and since I had the pump connected onto it, when it didn't run it would post as faulty.

Ahhh, i see, I will look out for that

  • 3 points

Ohhh very nice work. like custom loops, love loops with milk in, love the Evolv even more.

Fantastic work on it. That res location is unique if nothing else. Nice work +1

I do like the placement of the res and the case is amazing to work with , thanks :)

XD maybe more like an EA game. Broken at launch and fixed later ?

  • 1 point

Hopefully :D

Hopefully the guest own't have to pay the cost of the computer to get the finished product

  • 3 points

Unlike EA, I have the cost covered XD

  • 1 point

Even if you get flak for that CPU, I still hope this makes it to the featured page. Looks drop-dead gorgeous, especially for this price range!

  • 1 point

Thanks for the kind words. I do really like the bends on this one.

  • 1 point

Congrats on the feature! This beauty definitely deserved it :)

  • 1 point

Thanks:)

  • 1 point

I think that if you got a better CPU like the i3 and a Gtx 960 it probably would have been better for the money but other than that it looks like a great pc and well done with the water cooling. Couldn't have done it better myself :)

  • 1 point

Thanks for the feedback, the good thing about having an lga1150 cpu is the very large upgrade path. Around next Christmas I will upgrade it to an i5 and a 970

  • 1 point

At that point you should have a better option than a 970.

  • 1 point

Not really seeing as the 970 will be ripped from my other pc and he will get a "1080" or equivelent

  • 1 point

Very good, any plans to water cool it as well once you move it?

It's already got a block on it so im sure i will :)

Is this the spiritual successor to the meme machine?

  • 1 point

Yes, his little brother

  • 1 point

lol.

I couldn't even tell when I first looked at it that it was (sorta) budget oriented, custom loops make everything look expensive. ._.

  • 1 point

They do, :) it's a nice system though, especially with the OC

That watercooling on the G3258 is OVERKILL!!! Also you did a very good work in the choice of parts.

I won't say anything about your description of the build... it's incredible and very detailed.

I think your PC should be featured like right now.

  • 2 points

Overkill is how I like my loops XD hopefully around this time next year it will have an i5 4670k or a i7 4790k , keeping in mind this one is 90% for gaming I think i'll go with the i5

  • 1 point

That i5 4670k is a BEAST for overclocking!

  • 1 point

I may have to purchase one for this build, then with the g3258 I will build an itx meme machine, water cooled, of course

  • 1 point

4690K is better for overclocking, it's the refreshed version of the 4670k, but with better tim

  • 2 points

Didn't even realise there was a 4690k, sounds like a better option

  • 1 point

How many dank memes can you create per hour with this? Did you have to sacrifice any rare pepes for it?

  • 1 point

Unfortunately I had to kill 1 rare pepe, however it creates a fair few memes per MILLISECOND

I know there will be some people crying about a £180 loop on a £50 Cpu - this is not my main rig

Even so, I find it comical that you're water cooling a G3258. But whatever man, it's your money.

It sure looks nice though.

EDIT: That's quite the OC you've got on that G3258 too...

  • 1 point

I will be upgrading my cpu in a year's time. But until then, my g3258 will stay as cool as ice

  • 1 point

Mini meme machine! It's beautiful! (A tear has just rolled down me eye)

  • 1 point

Although I must day were you not up for the challenge of an Itx meme machine?

  • 1 point

I very much am up to the challenge, however this pc is the micro (Micro atx) meme machine, and I will build an ITX one named the Mini (mini itx) meme machine

  • 1 point

That's great. A shame that the side panel isn't very revealing though

  • 1 point

Yeh it's quite darkly tinted too, I'm buying some led strips to hopefully make it more lit up

  • 1 point

+1 for the 5Ghz OC: that's the benefit of great cooling, too.

  • 1 point

It really is the benefit of it, low temps high clock speeds

  • 1 point

I have the G3258 OC'd to 4.2 with the stock cooler and a push-pull config. Amazing chip, if you treat it well...

  • 1 point

Yep :)

  • 1 point

Awesome concept man, really like the Water Cooling System and the Case.

Congratz with your build :)

Thought I would give top mounting it a try :) think it turned out nicely

  • 1 point

Your damn right it did!

  • 1 point

5GHz on an anniversary Pentium... at what vCore, tho?

  • 1 point

I think I managed to keep it stable at 1.39 or it may have been 1.4

  • 1 point

I know Haswell refresh has a suggested vCore max of 1.4v, but I am not sure if that extends to the Pentium line. As long as it'snot degrading, that's some top-tier silicon, sir!

  • 1 point

You could also replace the fans with high airflow ones like the 250 cfm+ fan by delta electronics (it is 120mm). Then you could run it at lower speeds, for less noise. Also, you could invest in some sound insulation foam. +1

  • 1 point

The fans are suprisingly silent, I do think I should get some sound insulation foam though.

  • 1 point

Ok then. Way to go on your build!

  • 1 point

Question: How in the living hell did you get your CPU up to 5 GHz?!

  • 2 points

Water, and luck, mostly luck

  • 1 point

no loop for 950? ¯_(ツ)/¯ ehh its only a secondary rig. how does g3258 hold up in games? btw watercooling looks sick, regardless of the parts. ༼ つ ◕◕ ༽つ me want...

  • 1 point

Im not even sure if they make blocks for a 950 XD, when overclocked in most light-ish games (Like csgo) I can't tell the difference with my 5820, however when playing more graphically intense games like JC3 it will only run smooth on medium settings vs ultra on 5820k

  • 1 point

Pretty good for a dual core without hyperthreading. Its pretty interesting how cpus can have almost no affect on some games, with huge ones on others. +1 for pentium power!

  • 1 point

Yes It can vary massively

  • 1 point

beautiful little system, even though not a huge fan of the case but as you said you wanted a small system :)

  • 1 point

Yep I needed a small system, probably could have got somthing smaller however I went with this instead. I actually got the case for £40 or about $65 because one of the panels was bent, I bent it back and it looks as good as new

  • 1 point

First, you got my rate up for the name, that simple, it was original enough to make me giggle, you deserved it xD Second, the loop on that CPU, I feel ya, I did the exact same thing, I'll upload my build here soon and I fully understand you! Third and all this build is VERY CLEAN, I love it, I also went and check your main rig, you sir have talent, Im too affraid to jump into hard tubing...

  • 2 points

Thanks very much for the kind words, but please do try hard tubing!, if you can find a weekend where you have spare time, do it. the overall outcome is very nice, and as much as I would like to tell you it's very difficult and that i'm amazing, it's not that difficult. :)

I have used AIO coolers and they just don't harness the same results as a custom loop. I agree with you though, a PC like this one shouldn't be limited because someone recommends me against it

  • 1 point

i'd love to go custom loop but with two gpus that would cost me over 500 bucks and with that money i could sell my two 980s, get two 980tis and an x99 upgrade or something so the temptation is there, the money and the value aren't :D

I would recommend the NZXT Hue+ for lighting, for any color, it's simply the best lights you can put in a case, affects wise. It can do TONS of amazing effects with full RGB or single color, however you like it.

why would you go to all that bother of making a custom loop, with hard tubing, and not cool the GPU? If using it for gaming, the GPU will benefit from water cooling far far more than the CPU.

  • 1 point

probably because he overclocked the cpu to 5ghz hence needing the waterblock on the cpu, check out some of my builds with the same concept budget build with a watercooled cpu and not gpu, it's pretty common to not watercool everything including the north and south bridge, memory, cpu, gpu, so whatever don't criticize his build!

  • 1 point

950 cooling blocks were surprisingly hard to find if I can get one I will do it

Only thing if seen on the lower card line was a 750 ti block made by ekwb for a bit atm they are making blocks for 780's and 970 above

The sale of those keys violate Microsoft ToS, and the keys may be unexpectedly disabled. Recommending, suggesting, advising, encouraging, hinting, or in any way implying these keys as a solution or option is not allowed on this site.

Can you link me this? I am not looking to argue or anything, it just a lot of people endorse that site with the sales of games and the codes. If it was that bad, why aren't youtubers being blocked and removed?

For the same reason streamers and YouTubers advertise CS:GO skin gambling sites to underage kids. They're paid to and either aren't educated about what they're advertising or don't care.

why aren't youtubers being blocked and removed?

YouTube doesn't need to block those videos to be compliant with the law.

I'm not going to dig through Microsoft ToS for you, sorry. Feel free to look up MSDN's ToS though, if you're that interested.

The majority of those keys are resold volume-license/MSDN or OEM keys. The sale of them violate Microsoft ToS, as they are originally distributed with the agreement they won't be resold.

Also, please wait longer than a half hour before following up with your question.
