First build in a long time. I wanted something to run battlefield 4 and light editing work. There's nothing like coming home after a long day at work and sitting on front of your rig with a nice cold brew and getting lost in the Internets.
I kinda regret not getting 4790K, but it's all good since I'll be using this for gaming mostly. I was also tempted on going the skylake route, but after the initial benchmarks, I wasn't THAT impressed, and I'd go over my budget. If I need to, I don't mind upgrading the MB, CPU and RAM in a year or two.
I'm currently running an XFX 7850 2GB Ghost edition as I'm patiently waiting on the new pascal cards to come out. I'd like to see the price on the current cards come down a bit, hopefully, then pull the trigger on either a current 900 series card, or whatever the newer pascal line has to offer. I'm also in need of a monitor upgrade, as I'm running my games at 1680 x 1050. Again, waiting to get the official specs on pascal cards, then I'll decide on what to do.
Under full load, she runs at less than 50C and anywhere from 18C to 25C when idle. The fans on the h110i GTX are really loud. I'm looking at fan options - if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! Also, since the software that came with the h110i gtx sucks, I've plugged both fans directly to the MB and have it controlled through the bios threshold settings. In doing so, I realized I need fan extension cables for better cable management.
I'm working on cable management right now, so I'll be sure to update pics as soon as it's all nice and tidy. I just wanted to post something already and edit it as I go alone. Thanks for reading this and I'd really appreciate any ideas or recommendations.
