Description

So I'm finally done with college and working at a decent job so I decided it was time to put together a build with a bit more love and attention to detail with some higher end components. Since the next generation of GPUs are arriving later this year I thought this would be a good time to plan my build around that and temporarily reuse my previous computer's R9 280x.

The build went very smoothly although I took a lot more time making sure cables were grouped and hidden as best as possible. The H440 is a great case and looks gorgeous in white. The only trouble I had was the lack of space behind the motherboard tray that makes cable routing a bit more work, especially given the 1/8th inch of sound dampening foam on the back panel. The Phanteks PH-TC14PE is also a great cooler, I have my CPU overclocked to 4.5GHz at 1.325V and the CPU idles at 25-30C and never went above 70C on stress tests. Lastly I decided that the build would be better off if you could at least see inside the case so I splurged a bit and bought the NZXT Hue+ for case lighting.

Let me know what you think, I'm always open to suggestions and constructive criticism on my builds!

Very good looking build! I hope you didn't recently pay for that 280X...

Anyway, you've definitely got a +1 from me. Outside of the fact that black and white is totally my bag (look at my first build), you've just got a good build all-around.

Well done. Cheers.

The 280X is a holdover I bought a year ago. I'll update this build once I can get my hands on a new card, probably a third party 1070. Thanks for the compliments!

Nice build! Welcome to the H440 club! :) I have the same case and motherboard as you, and I think they are a great combination. Black and white builds FTW!

In a world dominated by liquid cooling solutions, air cooling definitely deserves some much needed love

Where did you align your LEDs? For example, did you run it across the bottom of the case (under the NZXT logo)?

Yeah I ran two strips separately, one goes along the bottom under the NZXT logo and up the back from the bottom, the other is along the plate in the front that the hard drives lock into and curves up around the top
