Description

I was in need of a massive systems overhaul with being 2 generations behind on ram and dozen on the processor :P. Currently I am saving up for some san ace case fans and the nvidia pascal release next year. Most of the HDD's were used from the previews build. Xonar DX is currently not functioning properly. I will be aiming for a 4+Ghz Overclock after system fans arrive

2/26/2016 Case Fans Added but air cooling is not up to the task of a 4.5Ghz over clock

3/28/2017 Well enver got around to that pascal, other priorities happened, however i did manage to get in a storage overhaul. M.2 for boot and program/s games that take to long to load, 850 pro as a dedicated recording drive, and then 16 terabytes of hard storage until i can budget in a NAS

06/20/18 Well I finally got the new gpu and also a few other things, I think i will be set for a few years

Love the gtx460. Was a VERY groundbreaking card when it was released and set the tone for GPUs as we know them today.

Dave702 could just be "wowing" over the fact the 460 is never seen anymore. Possibly the first build he has seen with a 460.

To be fair my friend was using an NVidia ASUS 260 GTX up until last month when he replaced it with a 980Ti and he could still (just) play GTA V

it seems to be doing a pretty good job so far without case fans to optimize airflow. the one complaint i have is that it is very hard to get the machine threads on the bolts to bite the mounting bracket. this caused some slippage and tilting which runs the risk of air bubbles forming in the TIM.

A bit of an update. when i tried to bring the clock up to 4.5 Ghz at 1.3 volts i got temperatures going into the 90's. it could certainly handle a more conservative overclock though
