Description

This is my first build ever and it went pretty well except for some drivers that had to be updated for the motherboard bios and the supreme fx audio. Also windows 10 has some weird notification bugs so i had to disable some of them from popping up all the time. Future upgrades will be to clean up the interior of the case with cable extensions and adding more ram and leds.

Part Reviews

CPU

Super fast cpu, i have it overclocked to 4.4ghz. I highly recommend it if you dont need hyper threading with the i7.

CPU Cooler

Masssive cpu cooler its not cheap but if you consider it as a investment it will perform just as good as closed loop water coolers but last alot longer, plus it has a 6 year warranty. My temps are 24c idle, 54c under load.

Motherboard

Great motherboard with plenty of sata connections and a great red and black color theme.

Memory

They work great at the rated xmp speed of 3000mhz. I plan on getting 2 more 8gb sticks in the future.

Storage

My first ssd and it performs super fast!

Storage

It works good as a data storage drive the speed isnt that important, this was a gift from my father.

Video Card

I can run most games at ultra or very high settings at 1080p near or over 60fps.

Case

Massive tower but lots of space for all my pc compenents. It was a little bit overpriced though.

Power Supply

I wanted a highly efficient power supply with a good warranty and this one was just right. It has enough power for my build.

Optical Drive

If i ever need to rent a blu ray movie i can use this drive or use it to burn or rip blu ray discs.

Operating System

I've gotten used to it even though its really different from windows xp its not that bad.

Wireless Network Adapter

Wireless ac internet is super fast! Also it has bluetooth to use with any bluetooth devices.

Case Fan

I added this to the top of my haf x case so far so good.

Monitor

I use it with my playstation 3 and my current build, so far after 3 years it still works great.

Keyboard

Its a membrane type keyboard but i like it and use it everyday and for gaming.

Mouse

Great mouse for gaming i know its discontinued but it works good for me.

Speakers

Best speaker system for any build period! I also use it with my playstation 3.

could have saved some money on the motherboard and the cpu cooler and maybe could have gotten a 980 but still a beautiful build

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Thank you, yes i think i could have saved more but i wanted the best air cooler possible and the motherboard is great although a bit on the expensive side and for the gtx 980 i was thinking about that but im only gaming at 1080p right now and a 970 is perfect for this build, for my next build i will be running a 1440p or 4k monitor.

A really good CPU cooler is the CRYORIG H7 for only about $35. Seems like the better and more inexpensive option to me, but hey, it's your build :P

KaRitoriki 1 point 17 months ago

pretty much, the motherboard, 500gb ssd, and speakers are overkill.

Arkwoman1990 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

the speakers are soo worth the money

Gojirha 1 point 17 months ago

$140.00 speakers, $100.32 CPU cooler. e.e I uh, I don't know how to feel about this...

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

The speaker system ive had for about 2 years now, i included it in the build just because.

Gojirha 1 point 17 months ago

How is the mouse / keyboard setup going? Most people go with the generic Razer / Logitech / Steel series.

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Both are great keyboard is membrane type and mouse is still working to this day for this build i know they are old and discontinued but i did buy them about 1 year ago for my previous pc which was a old prebuilt one.

Arkwoman1990 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Sweet build, have the same speakers myself and love them

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

yeah they're great together with the subwoofer.

Nice build, could have gotten a R9 390x from MSI and saved a bit money. Also u might want to work on Cable Management, I built my first PC not long ago and got problems with it too :D But now I fixed it. U got an Upvote since i love Skylake :D

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

I think you meant the 390 not 390x but i did compare the 390 to the gtx 970 and the 390 uses a lot more power and gets much hotter than the gtx 970 does. I am getting cable extensions for the cpu power connector and motherboard connector because the haf x is a huge case and the cables didn't reach when routed behind the motherboard.

TheHammerLukas 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Well idk about the r9 390 :D but my r9 390x doesnt get very hot ( I got 2 air intake fans and 3 air output fans) I cant say anything about power consumption since i didn´t check it yet :D

I've just purchased this same CPU & CPU cooler, but seeing these pictures, I'm concerned whether there's room for two sticks of memory. Did you find there was room for said memory even with the large cooler?

javierlrod submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

The ram i got is low profile memory so im not sure if the ram you have will fit, as long as they dont have large heatsinks on top you should be okay. Check noctuas website for compatibility also.
