Description

Gaming and basic schoolwork/web browsing I'm getting an average of 62 FPS on Sniper Elite 2 on ultra. This is my sons 15th birthday present and Im hoping this goes to college with him with minimal upgrades. PCPartsPicker states the video card will not fit without removing the drive bays. This is not true. The card just makes it. But you cannot install the fan that attaches to the drive bays due to clearance issues. So far it's running so fast I have no need to over clock. But in the future when it starts showing its age that's the plan. At that point I may beef up the CPU cooling to a full size radiator setup to get the most life out of the CPU that I can.

What you can't see in the picture the computer is sitting on a section of glass and there is a clear plastic mat ontop of that. So to lessen the chances of sucking up dust and choking the airflow.

Carpet has very little to do with sucking up anything, unless mount the psu upside where it intakes from the bottom.

Even if you get a tiny more dust from being close to the floor, if you spray out your case every month or 2, it makes no difference anyways.

The psu is upside down

The red computer setup and green carpet really does not go together. But nice build +1

He wouldn't get off the chair. So I just rolled the chair over for the picture. That cat couldn't give two *****.

Nice picture of the cat but I seriously do not believe that it was really seating in the grey chair. Cats ALWAYS pick a spot near the computer where it is impossible to ignore them. At the least it should have been in the red chair. Better yet would be to on the desk directly in front of the monitor.

One more point and then I'm out of here. This was built for your son yet it appears dad is the real hard core geek here. :)

+1 for everything.

Come to think of it the chair itself was by a window so I think he was chilling in the sun. After the picture I rolled his *** back into his spot. He never missed a beat.

This was my sons idea. This build is his birthday present. He just turned 15. So I let him go for it. It's a pure 15 year old boy aesthetic. I'm ok with it. We bought the hunter green carpet because we were having kids and we knew the carpet would last longer than a light brown or whatever. It has served it's purpose and we are probably going to get new carpets soon anyways. :)

Pretty sweet bday present. Only thing I can say is that 4gb is pretty much a gimmick and you could have saved money and bought a 2gb, unless MAYBE you sli with a 3 monitor setup, 2gb would have been fine, and even then it would be within a few frames difference.

I ended up getting the card for 25 dollars more than the 2gb version. At that point why not?

It is also an out of the box over clocked version. Plus I'm looking for the long haul. Most games today don't take advantage of all 2 gigs of memory but games in the future may benefit from it. I'm this deep. I was actually trying to justify the 780. But I figure either get another card and run SLI or maybe by then some totally new technology will present itself and I will just scrap the 770 all together. Time will tell.

Very striking looking build with red everything except for the blue light. Makes me think of Spiderman.

I get a build compatibility msg when I look at my system build:

"The NZXT Phantom 410 (Red) ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 305mm long, but video cards over 230mm may block drive bays. Since the MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card is 269mm long, some drive bays may not be usable."

Do you have any blocked drive bays? I love the case but want my top-choice card, too.

How is the phantom 410? im considering buying it so i was wondering if you had any complaints or issues with it.

He's just pissed I moved him out of the sunny spot the chair was in before I took the picture. His eyes only give a +5 hit damage so I'm ok after a quick healing spell.

Why did you buy the 4 gb version of gtx 770 ? son edits videos as i see no reason that he should buy that fast ram and that gpu is not using dual monitor support!

How is he ever going to get any schoolwork done with this hanging around the house? lol.

They are from a "mini system" I had laying around doing nothing. I think it's a Phillips. It actually sounds really good and I ditched plans for expensive computer speakers after we hooked it up. Does the job nicely.
