Description

Swapped out my old NZXT Phantom Case for an NZXT S340. I think th S340 is much cleaner.

Future upgrades include: USB 3 to replace the usb 2 at the bottom, NewGPU either R9 480, GTX 1060, or GTX 1070. 850w Power Supply (Platinum/Gold), some ambient LEDs, and an NZXT Kraken cooler

Part Reviews

Motherboard

The Bios on this is beautiful and very easy to use.

Video Card

I was using this card with my old build running an AMD FX 4100. The CPU bottlenecked the Hell out of this GPU. Im sure running this with the i5 6600k will be a night and day difference.

Its always nice to see builds with older-generation parts like the NZXT Phantom cases

Thanks I was a big fan of this case when I first saw it, but I'm starting to think about getting something a little less (alienwareish)

Nice job, but you might want to upgrade that psu in the future, also why mismatching monitors?

LawstSon submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

I've been looking into new PSU but GPU is higher on my priority list right now

I couldn't get the same LCD as it was replaced by the LED. But I only play games on one monitor so I don't really notice any difference. The only time I can tell is when i have the same solid color on the background of the desktop.

Turn your bottom fan around as an intake, it may help the gpu

LawstSon submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

The bottom fan is an intake, pulling air from the bottom pushing it up. Running most games on high settings I rarely see over 60*

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 26 months ago

That's incorrect. With the current setup, its set to exhaust, pushing air out the bottom.

LawstSon submitter 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

sorry you are correct. It felt like the air was coming up. I put a napkin over it and it pulled it down. That will be rectified. Thank you for pointing that out

No problem.

Any suggestions for the next GPU? Im up in the air with an RX 480 or a 1060. I have put some though into spending the extra $150 for a 1070 but Im trying to keep it somewhat in my price range

480>1060, hands down. Then again, Vega is around the corner, so you might just want to wait. Typically, its best to skip a generation of gpus rather than upgrading from one set to the next.
