GPU Effective Memory Clock Rate

I built this machine because I was sick of getting ****** frame rates in games that I play, like league of legends/etc. I used to stream a lot of fighting games from my Xbox 360 and i just wanted to increase the quality of my stream for my viewers, also i needed something to make videos for YouTube. The PC I used to use was a HP Pavilion Verde SE, it was a pre-built pile of crap, it would net me 15fps in league on the lowest settings. If i was lucky enough, the game was basically unplayable. Every computer I have ever had was always pre-built garbage. I told myself, "no more" its time to build my own, so I went on YouTube and forums to start my research. The build that I came up with was based around the NZXT Phantom cases, I really liked the look of these cases so I knew I wanted to build my PC in one. At first I wanted a black and red color scheme but then I saw that a lot of builds were using this color so I decided to go with the white. The next thing I wanted was performance, I wanted something that could do every thing I wanted, crush games, stream, and video edit while also keeping a clean aesthetic.

What worked well was using this website to find parts. It was easy to find what worked and what didn't work, also which components matched and didn't. It was easy to pin point the best deals.

The only problems I had during building was a little newbie mistake where I plugged my CPU power into a PCI-E cable and the PC would not post. I also had a little trouble getting the graphic card started because I forgot to disable the integrated graphic on the CPU.

Now I can easily max out any game and run them flawlessly with smooth frame rates!

All in all I found a new hobby I really enjoy computers and building them I always get excited when something new comes out I guess I consider myself a new PC enthusiast and member of the Glorious PC Master Race!

UPDATE:03/31/14 Decided to just buy some sleeved cables from Moddiy was having problems with the 24pin and sata cables plus don't really have enough spare time ATM here are some new pics! Sorry about all the dust need to clean it out when I get a chance!

UPDATE 08/26/14 Just purchased the Rog swift monitor! this monitor is GREAT!

UPDATE 10/20/14 bought an Samsung 850 pro 1Tb first SSD hope it's good!

UPDATE 8/8/2016 The build is complete and serving me well, My next pc build will be a 4k gaming build with even better performance!

That mousepad though.... Great looking build, too.

mattk9609 1 Build 3 points 43 months ago

I'd love to hate on the titan over 780ti, but I can't. This build is amazing and looks great. Not the best price to performance ratio with the gpu, but amazing build none the less. good job.

wow, big plans you got there. this is a dream build.

Catalyzer 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

Amazing build. Total Overkill for the current gen games. Also i see a Titan Black , Wow !

uprightSimian 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Wait! Titan black isn't black? So confused

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build -2 points 43 months ago

The Cooler is solid black.

LMoriarty -2 points 43 months ago

No, it isn't. Only the engraved "Titan" is black, and the pcb might also be black. You can see it in the above pictures.

PacificNic 4 Builds 2 points 43 months ago

Get the full windowed panel... PLEASE! Also, you may want to flip your bottom fan so that it is set to intake. Nice build, dude! :)

icecoldcombo submitter 1 Build 0 points 43 months ago

Yeah I am debating on getting one the bottom mesh is blocking my card out and its starting to annoy me.

superslinky1226 1 Build 0 points 43 months ago

I ordered a black panel with a window, and just got a white one by accident, im probably going to have to ship it back to California if NZXT will ever respond to my Support Ticket. I'll sell you mine just to keep from having to wait for NZXT to respond to my message if you want to. Its still in the box, and wrapping. never opened.

AppulJeck 2 points 42 months ago

All I'm going to say is, if you had that much money, wouldn't you have spent a bit more on a 4930k? :P

GamerDeso 2 points 42 months ago

Based on this build, looks like its future proof for the next 5 years or so... Unless developers decide to crank up the requirements all of the sudden, but I doubt they would do that so fast.

For a build that is sub $3k just for a PC, it's better than most builds, IMO to say the least, out there. This was thought out very well.

GamerDeso 2 points 41 months ago

That Titan Black... I want one so bad.

iTzSnypah 1 point 43 months ago

I see no reason that you got a Titan BE instead of a 780Ti. They are the same chip besides the Titan BE has full FP64 performance and 3GB more VRAM. I don't see how those features are worth $500, ever.

Electrospeed 38 points 43 months ago

If you have that much money, why the **** not?

JohnTsams 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

TaylrTownsnd -7 points 43 months ago

surfer1 1 point 38 months ago

Because a bet he will never use that Titan BE for what what's meant for, imho 780Ti would have been a wayyy better purchase.

ownerbeast -5 points 43 months ago

icecoldcombo submitter 1 Build 11 points 43 months ago

780ti's are just about the same but I wanted the 6gbs of vram because I actually planned on playing games at 4k resolutions.price per performance isn't really that important to me.

ArrKayCee 3 Builds -9 points 43 months ago

780ti's are on average about 10-15fps better and they are faster for video editing, and there is a possibility of them coming out with 6gb versions, but why wait I guess.

icecoldcombo submitter 1 Build 7 points 43 months ago

I'm pretty sure Nvidia said that the 6gb of vram is reserved for the titan brand and they will not be coming out with a 6gb variant for the 780 ti plus that just doesn't make any sense if they did...

LMoriarty 2 points 43 months ago

There is a company now releasing a 780 with 6gb of vram, you can see it on techoftomorrow.com

ArrKayCee 3 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

Oh, I haven't kept up with news on that front sorry.

Infixite 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

A Titan Black is faster than a 780Ti, get your facts straight.

ArrKayCee 3 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

I'm sorry I didn't see the Black after Titan, my bad.

PacificNic 4 Builds 2 points 43 months ago

While I see your point, if you had that much money, wouldn't you also not give a ****? I'm just saying, to some people it doesn't matter.

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Unless OP is a die hard gamer, a 780 Ti wouldn't really suffice.

For example, OP said he wanted to run a triple monitor setup, a single 780 ti would not be able to max out games with a comfortable frame rate on the 3 monitors. A titan would run games on ultra without using its full potential.

[comment deleted by staff]
SomeBlueGuy 1 Build -4 points 43 months ago

The 780 Ti is a gaming card. It's not meant to game on more than 2 1080p monitors.

Even a single 1440p Monitor, you're going to need extra juice just to get that decent frame rate on ultra.

iTzSnypah -7 points 43 months ago

You must be incompetent if you cannot understand that they are the same.

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build 8 points 43 months ago

They aren't the same.

Dustworks 1 Build 1 point 40 months ago

I'm doing similar build and I agree, the Titan BE isn't worth it,it would be good for 4k tho

GMAN-DV8 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Lol very nice buil I like the rip for your last computer

ncarter13 2 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

dat GPU tho. PC master race build right there

Sezmic 1 point 43 months ago

Why RAID SSD's? You won't get that much of a performance increase and you lose TRIM.

uprightSimian 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

wondering same. Don't see point for strictly gaming system. server or graphic/video workstation, ok but not necessary here i think. Nice build though and clean inside. +1

Akut 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

He can still manually run garbage collection programs, and I'd like to see how fast BF4 loads with RAID 0 SSDs :D

Completely overkill, but completely awesome.

KuruptNightmare 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Wow that's amazing. Really like the aesthetics of it the most. Also how is the Titan holding up? Temperature wise.

James710 1 point 43 months ago

How did you change the LED's!!! I want one! Lol

icecoldcombo submitter 1 Build 3 points 43 months ago

The phantom 820 cases have built in RGB led lighting systems.

hugo1313 1 point 43 months ago

The case comes with its own built in LEDs

maxbailey 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

Nice build. Not sure why the Titan though, extreme waste of money. You could have gone with either a 780Ti and saved some money, or 2 780s in SLI.

But the build looks great. I love NZXT's Kraken series coolers.

PolishXlion 2 Builds 1 point 43 months ago

Why was I proud of my build? Great Build.

CaptainWoopy 1 point 43 months ago

I don't see why you shouldn't use this rig for 3D modeling and this kind of stuff. A Titan, and 32GB of Ram? you've got a beast for this stuff over there.

nhall.bob 1 point 43 months ago

First Titan Black On pcpp!!!+1

Onetoothmary 1 point 43 months ago

Thing you wont notice with the Titan Black in SLI is microstutter, The latest Driver update corrected that issue. ALSO PSU again, you'll need a larger PSU just for the graphic cards.

6pin and 8pin power connector Per Card -

ZionIsLast 1 point 42 months ago

850w will handle his setup with SLI titans.

Elshelfo 1 point 43 months ago

Amazing build, love the way the light reflects on the side panel. +1

vortex25565 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

two 780ti's instead of 1 gtx titan you would of got better performance for the same price

icecoldcombo submitter 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

Yes I know but I plan on getting two titans.

brelovix 1 point 37 months ago

That monitor is so sick, too bad it's out of stock :(

JustAnotherGamer 1 point 36 months ago

Since you used the Titan Black I feel compelled to make some sort of Attack on Titan reference...

shempi 1 point 35 months ago

Looks good!

LemingSweaty 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Dem render times doe

Boatalism 1 point 27 months ago

that damn monitor

Walrus36 1 point 19 months ago

how do the led lights change color

rOjOdogg 1 Build 0 points 43 months ago

Nice build bust not a good choice for the money spent, but hey like you said it does what you want so nothing else matters. Next time you need to shop around for RAM, You paid way way too much for 1866mhz for that price you could have got 2133mhz RAM. 2 GTX 770 would have given you more performance not to mention for half the price. I like your overall build but you can get more bang for the buck with more research. Have fun and enjoy.

shawnshibu123 2 points 43 months ago

a single gpu is ALWAYS much better than sli/c'fire

rOjOdogg 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

There you are wrong, if you can get more performance for half the price that is the way to go.

PacificNic 4 Builds 2 points 43 months ago

No, you run into micro-stutter issues, game compatibility issues, sometimes I have witnessed even driver issues. You get more raw performance but it definitely has drawbacks. One 780Ti is better than 2x 760s. That is because of power draw and the aforementioned issues. There is less hassle and quicker setup times by going single GPU.

zac16 1 point 43 months ago

did you read the OP? Because he doesnt say anything about 6 monitors, only says 3 ROG monitors.

18hockey 1 Build -1 points 43 months ago

you do know there's no need for a titan sli, right?

I'd save your money and wait for a 4k monitor or get 5760 x 1080

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

Wrong, there are several advantages with SLId titans,

18hockey 1 Build -1 points 43 months ago

yes, and...?

screen tearing, barely improved framerates and higher temps?

nah, not really.

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build 4 points 43 months ago
  1. Screen tearing has nothing to do with SLI'd cards. You're thinking of micro stuttering which is rarely ever a problem.

  2. Look at 1 vs 2 titan blacks in benchmarks, the SLI'd titan blacks get double the amount of FPS a single card gets.

  3. Do you really think, EVGA/Asus would make a 1000$ card without making a good cooler? The titan black at full load, runs quieter and cooler than a 780 Ti at full load.

18hockey 1 Build -4 points 43 months ago

one card runs at good temps, sure, but two of those puppies with 1" space between them would heat up like an oven.

not worth it. end of story.

Akut 1 Build 3 points 43 months ago

Depends on the OP needs/wants.

BTW, SLI titans rarely overheat, unless you have a real ****** case/cooling. Titans have blower coolers, which work real well in tight quarters. Aftermarket coolers with open fans are the ones that suck with limited room.

Dollar/performance ratio isn't great, but this isn't your rig. Quit bashing this thread.

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

You can't really end an argument with an opinion.

2 Titan blacks run Cooler and Quieter than 2 780 Tis.

Check out the numerous SLI 780 Tis builds, they come back saying their cards run fairly quiet and cool at full load compared to other cards.

You have the cash, Do Not Get the NZXT PSU - They Burn out via Thermo Overload Easily -

Ive owned the v2 1000wt NZXT PSU. 1st one lasted 2months before It burned out, It took NZXT 6 weeks to get me the replacement. The Second one lasted 1month and Im still waiting on a replacement 5th week waiting, "They are on back order" -

Ive owned it for just under 6months - Its been unusable for 3 of the 6months. I ended up ordering the Corsair 1050watt PSU, This was the first (and last) time Ill ever order a PSU other then Corsair of the 15 years Ive built and used Computers I've never had a single psu failure with Corsair.

Only reason I got the NZXT was the white color matched the NZXT 810 Switch. Expect the same problem with the x60 kraken, that two was purchased at the same time as the PSU and I'm waiting on a replacement.

Save yourself the trouble and grab a pre built liquid cooled case from www.frozencpu.com

The card is amazing, very happy with it. had to pay a premium for it because the card is sold out everywhere that's why it's over market price, but it was worth it.

Akut 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

If running just one monitor @ 1080p 60hz, Titan Black is overkill. Hell, a 780 is overkill.

I see you plan on running a triple monitor setup, Not sure how the titan black will hold up to today's games over a span of three monitors, but the 384bit bus and it's 6GB of RAM should crunch some pixels for sure.

SomeBlueGuy 1 Build -1 points 43 months ago

A normal titan has the capability to run 6 1080p monitors running most games on max with a good frame rate.

Now the titan black is able to run games at a higher frame rate with 6 monitors. Although it has barely any advantage over the normal titan, it's relatively "better" in some cases.

So if OP wants to SLI his titan, he might as well buy as many monitors as he can, so he can take the full potential of a titan black.

shawnshibu123 4 points 43 months ago

Good luck maxing 6 monitors with the titan..

Akut 1 Build 2 points 43 months ago

I seriously doubt it. If a titan slugs under 4k resolutions, 6 1080p monitors top the number of pixels a 4k monitor has by around 40%.

Stick with three. your titan will be strained with 6, and I highly doubt it can hold 60fps in today's AAA titles on high/max settings.
