Description

I just recently built this pc after being frustrated countless times trying to game on my laptop which could barely run Battlefield 3 on medium settings. Since I was on a bit of a budget( like everyone else here) I bought a few pieces at a time, the essentials then the other stuff.

Case: I bought an Ultra Defender II Mid tower case from Tigerdirect for an extremely low price but it wasn't in the list here. It came with 2 Blue LED 120mm intake fans which I placed in the front spaces so that I could install the H80i in the back. The 450D is of similar build.

PSU: I probably should have went with a 750w PSU, but the cx600m was on sale for a great price at the time.

CPU: I went the AMD side basically because of mere pricing differences to intel's i5. I use this pc for multitasking and video/photo editing as well as gaming so the 8-core processor was a definite choice. Since it is a little weaker in raw power gaming to intel.

CPU Cooler: I Added a H80i Cooler and OC'ed it to a stable 4.8GHz which has kept it very cool while gaming so far. I replaced the fans it came with with 1 sp120 blue led in a Push configuration out the rear.

Motherboard/RAM: I wanted a black/Blue color scheme from the beginning so that's why I chose the m5a99x and g.skill Ares.

Hard Drives: I already owned the hard drives which were easily installed and formatted.

GPU: The Zotac gefore 970 GPU is definitely a power house for it's size. Coming in at only 8", It is amazing that it can produce so much power while staying so quiet and cool.

Peripherals: The Keyboard and headphones get the job done and look beautiful in my opinion with the blue. The g502 is an amazing mouse as well with a great button layout and customization.

Fan controller: the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 works great. It is very simplistic and easy to use unlike the touch displays and can control all 6 of my fans well keeping them extremely quiet in this case.

I finished the install with 2 140mm Corsair Blue LED exhaust fans at the top and 1 120mm Corsair Blue LED as an intake on the bottom which completes the airflow.

These prices aren't exact as I used Promo codes, sales and MIR on almost every single one of these purchases. This is my first PC build and am looking forward to what everyone has to say. At this moment, I can run Battlefield 4 at Ultra setting at 80-90fps and Far Cry 4/Crysis 2/Titanfall at about 60fps. It also loads and renders videos incredibly fast.

How are the Mouse and CPU COOLER as I'm thinking of getting the same nice build! +1 I love your black/Blue color scheme

the mouse is great, it is said to have the best sensor out now but the main reasons for me personally was the look, lights and the free scrolling wheel. I had that in my last logitech mouse and I have gotten so used to it. The h80i is very nice and gets the job done. It definitely a serious pain installing it first though.... The mount for the block on AMD boards is terrible compared to Intel's. I really like the led on it but the main reason I got the fan controller is because Corsair link is a pain to use and if you have the fans connected to it, they fire at what seems like 400% for 7 seconds or so every time you start up....

Nice build! I have the exact same case and headset, aswell as a G500S.

How are those Air series fans? Do they work well?

cool, yea the fans have been great so far. They barely fit into this case with the radiator but are working nicely now connected to the controller. they look amazing too :)

Hows the Keyboard? I had the exact same one but the key actuation point feels so high, like you almost gotta punch the keyboard for it to work V_V

the actuation point is rather weird. It is my first mechanical keyboard so I don't have much experience. I do like the volume scroll wheel and the LEDs which were the main reasons for the purchase.

Yeah, I thought so as well.. But idk, still seems a bit too hard to use for gaming, needless to say it will give your fingers a 6-pack and muscles upon muscles.

if there will be a ultra wide G-Sync monitor?

any intention to upgrade to that?

that will improve productivity and you can game without tearing or stutter

I don't know. It will be extremely expensive and I really like separate dual screens for multitasking.

you still can keep the monitors

it just adding on another monitor into the center and the secondary side by side
