First time PC build, mainly for gaming, procrastination and uni work (hah).
Decided to go the Haswell route as I liked the look of the MoBo especially, the 5-10% extra performance was also come in handy as I wont be OCing my CPU for a while (hence no 3rd party cooler).
GTX 770 was top of my budget, chose ASUS as I am a fan of their products (my laptop, monitor and previous tablet being ASUS). DCU2 cooling also caught my eye, aswell as the black/red matching the mobo.
750w PSU so their is enough headroom for future upgrades, a 2nd 770 maybe, if not re-selling for a better of cards (couple of years down the line at least) or a CPU cooler.
Cheap Optical drive, need it for OS and drivers, about it.
I liked the look of the 300R case, didn't want a huge one and the unnecessary extra 2.5" & 3.5" bays. In hindsight a Water Cooler may only just squeeze in, but cross that bridge when I come to it.
Originally was going to go for WD Caviar Black and 840 Pro, chose Blue and EVO to save a bit of money, which went towards GPU.
Notes: Yes the keyboard is over a decade old, it's been good to me and I like the feel (despite non-mechanical). Will upgrade when I have the money.
Even only 4 days after ordering I could have saved ~£30, not chuffed about that, but nevertheless happy with my build.
SSD comes tomorrow hence not in the completed picture.
