Description

Hi PCPP Community,

This is considered as my first serious gaming PC. As you can see, I'm aiming for a Black & White build.

Much of it is inspired from a combination of PCPP built videos here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GKOzIqOVOI and here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubJLZLtQOec

Comments/suggestion are all welcomed, tq.

Unless you planned on doing some more cpu intensive things besides just gaming ( i.e. streaming, youtube, editing etc ) you really don't need an i7. You should've saved the money and bought a better GPU. But saying that, it could almost be a good thing you didn't go all out on the GPU, Pascal will soon be out and that should be your first upgrade :) other than that nice build!

You can always have the excuse that you wanted an i7 just to say that you have an i7, and your probably right as far as the Pascal upgrade goes.

You are right, it was my decision to buy an i7 because I could say I have an i7, LOL!

Anyway, thanks for commenting! :-)

Hi,

With this built, I'm not just going to be gaming on it. It will also serve its purpose as my main PC where I do all sorts of things e.g. web, graphics designing, a little bit of streaming etc Guess I was bought into the whole marketing thing that you gotta have i7 when you want the the best. LOL

Yes, I'll definitely keep my eye on out the Pascal series.

Anyway, thanks for your comment :-)

Nice build, but honestly, not sure why you went with GTX 950 with i7-6700K. I think you could have put another $40 and get GTX 960, if price point was an issue

The initial plan was to hold out on the GPU department and make use of the on-board graphics (LOL) while waiting for Pascal to come out...

but then.....

Dark Souls 3 came out so I bought the cheapest and most color-matched GPU I could find :-)

The 950 is a great card don't get me wrong. But you probably would have been better off with a 6600K for gaming unless you need the hyper threading the 6700K offers and out the extra money into a better GPU.

Hi,

I did consider the 6600K but I just had to buy an i7 because in my mind, the i7 is the best CPU in the market right now. The whole marketing ploy gotten into me. LOL

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! :-)

Why a i7 and a 950? Maybe you should 1. Downgrade the CPU or 2. Upgrade the GPU to something like a 980 or somthing along those lines. But still, very nice and clean build

I will upgrade the GPU in the future. Just waiting for price 980/980Ti to drop. Bought the 950 just for teh lulz, and for Dark Souls 3.

Anyway, thanks for the compliments.
