Description

This build is a mixture of new and old.

CPU: Very fast with GIMP, Google Chrome, MS Office, and Adobe flash. It's old but it works with no lag at all. Probably the equivalent to one of AMD's phenom CPU's or early bulldozers.

MOBO: It's LGA775 and ATX. It's about 5 years old but it's really well built and has modern PCI.

RAM: DDR2 is slower but it's operations per second are quite okay. I was aiming at ddr3 but my budget/mobo didn't support it. It's no slouch though.

HDD: The only games I'm going to download is TF2, Minecraft, Garrys Mod and The Stanley Parable. About 400 photos from my SD card, iTunes, Chrome and Gimp. I've done my math with the download capacities (including windows) and 160gb should be enough. Also it is super cheap.

GPU: Radeon R7 240 should be good enough for my games. Runs fairly quiet and 2gb ddr3 ram is good enough for simple video editing and gaming at a res of 1280x1024.

Case: Cheap nice looking case with good air flow.

PSU: Yes, Raidmax is bad in quality but the PSU was cheap and it's well over my estimated wattage and I've had no problems so far.

OS: Runs good and I got a index rating of 5.6

It's cheap and I mainly use it for casual games and editing and skype.

Nice build! I have to ask though, do you really only have this much money to spend? With an extra 50 or 100 dollars you can make a HUGELY better APU build. Nonetheless, +1

Sweet build! Does that Radeon run those games at playable framerates? I want to grab one for my current, aging computer to hopefully allow it to play Source games at 1080p...

Yeah! I get around 30fps on medium on Amnesia. My pc can play every single game on playable fps. Ignore that guy that said it compares to a gt 610. Benchmarks are literally on line with the GT 640 and GTX 560ti.

It's great for the price.

I would imagine you getting a lot of flak for your purchasing choice, but as long has it fulfills your needs, then good build! I just can't help but tell you that if you just saved a little more you can get something that is way better
