Hello all, this is my first personal build. I've always had hand me down crappy computers. Never anything worth gaming on always 4-5 years older then the newest stuff. I was very happy with my first purchase. It took me months and months to figure out what i wanted in a gaming computer.
THE BUILD: I have had this PC for little over 5 months now. I think all the items selected make for a great overclocking pc. Now in the pictures i do not have the Hyper 212 Evo. I just ordered it today (3-18-14). For the video card i ran out of money to pick up a good one. I will however say the HD 7770 is a wonderful card and for the games i play, settings all on very high - ultra it runs well over 60fps in any game i throw at it. I built this just to play Warcraft and guild wars as well as a few games on Steam. Which is why i have I never bought the hyper 212 evo from the start. From this point on tho i will be overclocking.
Also if you look at my part selecting the fans are indeed blue in my case. For some reason this website or at the time i added all this stuff had no option of selecting blue, only red or green. Also the mouse i have, is not completely the same as the one you can pick from this website. Mine is a wired.
The temp picture i added was when the PC was just idle. I had run Warcraft for about 30mins which is the small spike in temps for the CPU and GPU. At top load for hours of gaming Ive seen a top temp of around 55-60c on the CPU and 58c on the GPU. Mind you this is with the stock cooler for the CPU, and no overclocking yet. I have yet to have this PC in the summer so i have no idea what a warm day will be like for temps. However my PC sits less than 2 feet away from a air conditioner so that should help out a bunch.
Mobo - Have to say I'm in love with this board. Great lay out lots of room. Good board for overclocking. I would highly recommend this to others.
CPU - I have always wanted the core I5 k version. I am happy, I'm finally the owner of one. Runs everything i throw at it great.
Ram - Bought this on sale. Great for gaming.
HDD - First time owning a HDD with over 120g. So far it does what i need it to do. Runs very cool as well i have yet to see it get above 32c. Most of the time its running around 26-28c.
GPU - When i put this computer together i was on a slight budget. I kinda spent most of it on the CPU and Mobo. For the games i play (Warcraft, gw2, gta 4, various other steam games) it runs everything on high - ultra with out hiccups. It's on the lower end of good GPU but for now its a great card would recommend it to anyone on a budget. Also with getting a good CPU and mobo i have plenty of room when i do upgrade to a better card down the road.
Case - I have to say this is hands down the best case I have ever had. My only complaint about it is the inside was grey not painted black like rest of the case. Not a big deal for me, tho some might not like it. The cable management in the back is great. Lots of room for wires. I guess i should say as long as your not running every slot on the MOBO filled up lol.
PSU - I almost picked up a corsair CX but I'm happy i got this one instead. It was on sale at the time and its modular. Plus it's SeaSonic and they make great psu. Looks great all the cables came braided.
Monitor - While this was the only thing i did not have to buy with my new build as i already owned it. It is hands down the best i have every owned. Only thing is you cant adjust the height. But that was fine with me, i just stacked a few books up i don't use to get it to the right height. Picture is great and lots of settings and easy layout when playing with them. Has built in speakers, I only use them when playing ps3 if I don't have my headset on. They are alright for monitor speakers.
Keyboard - I spent forever looking for a good mechanical keyboard. This one caught my eye since it was Cherry mx black. Great for gaming, not best for typing as I sometimes find myself hitting a key i didn't mean to hit as the tactile response is not like a blue or brown. Feels Great to the touch and i like the lighting. Not insanely bright but individual key lights make it wonderful for night time use.
Mouse - Ok this is the first time I have ever had a mouse like this. The feel and shape is great. Just right size for my hand. Blue led is awesome, not super bright. Buttons on the side are at the right place, I don't need to stretch to reach them. I would highly recommend this company. They are called Mazer. Never heard of them till i picked this up on a gut feeling. Was not disappointed.
Fans - I went with the sickle flow for the CFM. They are Great, and not loud like some of the reviews. To me its like owning any normal fan for cooling down a room or even an air conditioner. Easy to tune out. 200mm i used for the top, very quite and moves lots of air. The 140mm i used for the side. Lowered my GPU and mobo temps by a good amount. It is the loudest fan in the case.
All in all I'm very happy with my first build. Aside from getting a better video card for more top end games, I feel I put together a very good PC. The pics are a little hard to see, taken with a crappy camera phone. I don't own a good camera to get high quality pics. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll try to do my best to answer them. Also don't mind the cables in the front they are in fact still behind the motherboard and what not. The case has a removable HDD bay. If that was still in they would all be hidden.
Total price, not counting monitor as i already owned that, after mail in rebates and promo not calculated into the price below was 882.79$.
