Started with a i5 6600k and Asus Z170 Pro Gaming. After the release of the new Kaby Lakes decided to return the Z170 and i5 for a i7 7700k and Asus Z270E Strix. Managed to oc to 4.8.. Pretty happy with how everything turned out until I get a water cooler and push up to 5ghz
01/30 Update: Replaced the Evo 212 with a Corsair H100i v2. Also going to be swapping the ram for 2x8gb g.skill trident z rgb 3000mhz sometime soon. Managed to push to 4.9ghz with peak temps reaching 86*c with Vcore set to 1.240. Ran IBT on very high to confirm. Tried pushing to 5ghz but temps got into the mid 90's. More pics of the setup inbound.
02/01 Update: Added G.skill TridentZ RGB ram. Absolutely beautiful looking..
02/07 Update: Got my Dell U3415W in and am in love ;-).. Never going back! Also got my Rockit88 delid kit and am now hitting 5ghz stable at 1.275ghz with temps at 76C on the hottest core. Putting it through some real life testing to see just how stable it is and we'll see.. The delid managed to bring down the temp 16C from the hottest core on my IBT VH stress tests on 4.9ghz...
Overall a great CPU so far and don't regret trading the 6600k for it. Only thing holding back 5 stars is what seems like hit or miss with temps when pushing 5ghz. I really want to hit that mark and I thought swapping for the H100i would do it but not quite there yet.
Best investment out of everything in this build honestly. 13 second boots into Windows is so nice!
Gorgeous case with it's huge side window. NZXT has perfected cable management in this case with it's attached plastic clips. A++
