Description

ok. So this current pc is the final evolution stage of a pc buiding saga that started 2 years ago in 2014. Most of the parts on this list ive had for years and been slowly adding to it based on need. ( you can check out my older pc build by clicking my profile). I also have my 4k tv connected to my computer. And run dual OS for each display.

As of right now. I feel Im completely finished with this pc. ONly upgrade I plan to make is for the gpu to a 1080 ti. (whenever thats released). Im still waiting for the 1st gpu that can consistently push 60fps in 4k. My 980 ti will do for now

Games/Emulators: SNES, PS2, Gamecube, sega genesis, dreamcast. All full speed in 4k . wireless controllers all compatible with pc. xbox one, ps3, ps4

Media: Kodi, Netflix. Random youtubr Watching uncompressed 50gb 4k movie files.

Data Hoarding: 10 years of torrenting stored on my various drives.

The GTX 1080 will fair just fine for 4k 60fps as long as you are turning the settings to high and very high and not maxed out on the most demanding games. Don't take my word for it and check out benchmarks online. lol what am I saying

But a last gen 80 Ti model in comparison to a new 80 model is half the jump from a last gen 80 Ti model to a current gen 80 Ti model. He's making a smart call waiting for the Ti model. If he had a 980, I would suggest he get a 1080, but he has a 980 Ti.

the 1080 cant run rise of tomb raider at 60fps 4k. It only can achieve 50 fps max. So its not worth the upgrade yet in my opinion. Thanks for your input!

you know what they say. "a hard drive is only as good as it's backup"

How do you have the back ups set up? I'm going to be building my pc soon and was wondering what the best ways to back up are. Whether that's another internal drive, external drive, online storage etc.

In my opiniion, the best and safest way to back up is with a 5.25 hotswappable hard drive bay. which will go where the dvd drive normally is.

it allows you to insert and eject internal hard drives on the fly without you having to be bothered with usb wires etc. But external hard drives are good too. just not as convenient.

Worse thing you can do is leave all your backups drives in the pc. Bc if theres a short,,, alll your drives will fry at the same time.

I'm looking at just going with a 250gb ssd and 1tb hdd to start with. I'm not sure how it would work... If I get a 2tb external drive (since I'm thinking of going with h440 which has no drive bays.) Would that be able to back up both the internal ssd and hdd? I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff.
