About 7 months ago, the Acer aspire something my Nana and Grandpa had been using since 2014, had a motherboard issue. The problem was that the computer would shut down every 30 minutes for no reason at random. So they don't have a computer essentially, but they really need it to do the books for their restaurant, store pictures, and surf the web.
Its honestly a shame that their Aspire stopped working, the processor inside it isn't bad at all. I think it was a AMD 3000's something with a radeon igpu, on the FM1 chipset. The original plan was to just replace the mobo, but propraitray case 'n all meant that it wouldn't work.
So I elected to use my old gaming parts from my first custom build, and put them back to work doing light tasks. These all should work for a long time if all goes well.
(I would have liked to use new parts but that would have got too expensive.)
For the case, erm, well it'll do its job well I know. But, it's not sleek ya know? I wanted to use a Thermaltake Versa H17 originally, but the price on that went up to $70CAD for no reason. Thats almost as much as my Gaming case!
I have set up a ps2 emulator for my Grandpa so he can play his old Gran Turismo games. The 2200G seems to handle that alot better than the ps2 ever could. (of course)
Updating the BIOS is strange but other than that, no complaints!
It is kinda loud in my build, and its a hard drive... A 2TB Hard drive would be a better value, go with one of those instead.
