Description

Please forgive the pretty terrible cell phone pictures!

UPDATE - 2/9/15: Finally added pictures of my new video card setup (newest pictures first).

UPDATE - 2/6/15: As of a week ago I sold my dual 760's to a friend and upgraded his rig with a new motherboard and power supply and finally ordered my new video card. I received and installed my Galax GTX 970 EXOC Black Edition card and am extremely happy with the card. Max temperatures so far were 61° C at full load on 2 runs of the Unigine Heaven Benchmark at maxed settings. Average FPS was 55. I'll post pictures when I get a chance!

This is my current build that I built in January of 2014 and also my 2nd PC build to date. It's truly overkill for what I actually use it for, but it's gorgeous and I really do love it.

Unfortunately, I had a pretty embarrassing incident with this computer where, after owning my 2nd video card in the system for just a month, I ripped out the lower PCI slot (on a $200 motherboard...) when trying to remove it. Therefore, I have a practically brand new video card sitting in it's box... which is just unfortunate. Due to this, I have this computer up for sale locally as well as my dual video card setup. If the computer sells, I build a new (slightly cheaper) one and stash the extra cash in my savings. If I sell the video cards, then I'll be picking up a GTX 970 for a replacement. Whichever happens, I'll sure update this with the outcome!

Custom cables in the future?

Thank you! It's a possibility. As I said, this computer is for sale, but if my video cards sell first and I get a single card for a replacement, I'll probably keep this and get some red sleeved cables.

Very nice build but I don't see a corsair SSD. Understandable as I assume you went for an aesthetic corsair build +1

Thank you! You would be correct. I should specify that more, but it was a Corsair build in the sense of appearance.

Tis a shame you can't run SLI. I have a Zotac GTX760 with 4GB VRAM and love it. I got mine for free (graduation present) and thought about getting a second one to put with it instead of getting a 970 but im still not sure

It's definitely a shame. I had the cards in SLI for about a month and was EXTREMELY satisfied with the performance and loved that they had 4GB of VRAM. Tearing out the PCI slot was so frustrating and beyond embarrassing. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't be looking to go to a 970.

Damn unfortunate that you ripped the slot out but its a lot more common than you think people do it pretty commonly in all honestly whether they're taking it out to clean the card or whatever and forget to loosen the clips so I wouldn't be too embarrassed. Also I have a mars 760 which is basically 760s in sli but on a single card and I love them they outperform sooo many cards, but watch it in your new build the 970 will have a bit less power than those 760s in sli either way lovely build my favourite case and brand :)

It's seriously a bummer cause I absolutely LOVED these cards. I know the 970 won't perform as well as dual 760's, but at this point I'm only running a single 760, so the 970 is definitely an upgrade from that. Glad to hear about that Mars card, it's seriously beautiful!

if youre gonna spend this much on a build, please dont get two 760's smh. just a terrible idea. couldve gotten a 780... wouldve destroyed those cards. just a classic case of lack of computer hardware knowledge. it looks good thought, not gonna lie

Hey man i know im quite a bit late. But im planning to do a build after a month or so and im also gonna be getting the H100i. I was just wondering why you didnt connect you sata cable that goes on to the left of your CPU block? Does it affect the performace by any means? Is it okay to use the cooler wihtout it?

I really dont need the corsair link also, and will be cleaner

No problems! I chose not to connect the Corsair LINK cable because I had heard the software wasn't that great and it was really just optional to do. It's also one less cable to worry about, so that's nice. I built this computer in January of 2014, so LINK might be better by now, but regardless it will not affect the performance of the cooler if it isn't hooked up.

Hope this helps! If your case can support it, look into the NZXT Kraken X61. It's a slightly larger cooler but I've heard great things about it. I'll probably use it in my next build down the road.

Thanks man, all i want is really aesthetics and the cleanliness (cable management)

Ill surely look out for the x61 but im currently working on my small form factor workstation with the 250d Not using that extra cable might turn out okay.

Thanks again

How are you liking that AOC monitor?

We also have the same speakers

I actually just recently got rid of it, but it was good while I had it! I sold it to my cousin who I had just built a computer for. I love these speakers!
