Description

I found an ad on craigslist for a computer for sale. The guy had to sell because he was leaving Hawaii and didn't want to ship it home due to the cost. I purchased his rig for $250 and the two monitors for $40. He has stated that the GPU was broken. The ram was causing it not to boot.

Here is what was in the computer

i7 4770k Evo 212 ASUS R9 290X ASUS Sabertooth Z87 16gb Corsair Vengeance (2x8gb) Corsair RM850 WD Black 1TB Cooler Master HAF X case

I ended up using the cpu, mobo, psu, and monitors. Everything else will be sold either to co-workers or on /r/hardwareswap

This was a crazy deal that I was lucky enough to find.

Umm... This is ridiculous. This is literally the best deal I've ever seen on a system of this spec (apart from a free one obviously). I see people listing and selling 4770ks for not much less by themselves. Good find sir!

Thank you! I was really cautious but after talking on the phone I found out he was in the Military so I snagged it.

I've had luck purchasing 2 e5640's on eBay. Really great CPU's.

Very nice deal. Awhile back I picked up a i7-970, Gigabyte x58-UD3R, EVGA GTX 770, 16gb HyperX in a Cooler Master case for $150 shipped.

Usually when seeing a gaming rig on Craigslist they want just as much as they paid for it 2 years ago.

I'm kinda torn here... the seller was military, right? Damn... I would have given at least $400; on the other hand, if you can save that cash... But I have a LOT of vets in my family... ARRGH! Damnit, +1 anyway.

Well I'm military so I guess I got the Military discount haha

Guess I just wasn't happy at the implication that a civilian took advantage to score a great deal (I'm a military brat; my mom and dad were Air Force, not at the same time though).

You have officially made me jealous. 2 144Hz monitors, 850W fully modular PSU, amazing motherboard, i7 CPU, 1TB HDD, CPU cooler, case and some broken parts for... 250 dollars? All of these parts (excluding the broken stuff) would turn out to be about $1327 in total... You REALLY picked up a killer deal. Possibly the best deal in PC gaming history. Congrats, good sir! +1 from me!

What do you mean? It looks nearly flawless to me. Not sure whats up with the 2nd picture but the 1st picture clearly shows a very clean looking system.

So I was going to buy the pc for $250 and after I said I'd take it he pulls out both monitors and asks if I want them. I offered $40 and he said sure. lol

Haha good luck man, you'll find something if you keep looking. Just gotta troll craigslist and /r/hardwareswap. He was gonna just give them away if he couldn't sell them by the morning. Right place at the right time I guess.

Yeah, that really is an insane price huh. I was just offered $170 for my VG248QE monitor and I turned it down(only turned it down because it's my only other monitor with a good stand) even though I don't even use it for gaming anymore since I got a xb271hu 1440p/144hz monitor.

The vg248qe is a solid monitor but the colors aren't that great IMO. I'm really surprised a 1080p/144hz IPS panel hasn't been released. I feel like it would sell really well. TN just looks really bad compared to a good IPS panel imo. Sitting next to my xb271hu the vg248qe is honestly ugly. My friend was going to buy it off me since all he does is play CSGO until he saw them sitting next to each other. Now he is saving up for a 1440p/144hz monitor too.

Yeah I'm definitely not too picky on things. I'm just trying to flip these computers. Already flipped 2 which paid for my 1070. Self funding hobby. But deals like this sure make it nice to upgrade my rig/desk! I've been trolling everywhere for a sabertooth board, I think it looks so sick. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on anything.

Those monitors are a big upgrade from my previous one so I'm super pleased.

Yeah, this is an expensive hobby so I'm always looking for deals also.

They are good monitors. I think I'm just being overly harsh because I have them sitting next to a high quality 1440p IPS panel. I thought highly of the vg248qe for years and it will be a good monitor for you for quite awhile.
