Description

I use this rig for gaming, video editing, and live streaming. It runs like a well tuned starship :)

This is such a weird and unbalanced build. I'm assuming that you purchased an B85 just because you don't overclock, do you? Because I don't see no aftermarket cooler nor was it mentioned in the description. But anyways, a B85 should offer some minimal overclock potential.....

It's really not that 'unbalanced' at all, the only odd thing is the K series processor with that motherboard, like you mentioned, but that one thing doesn't make the whole build unbalanced.

Would be nice to see some more pics though, OP!

I don't think it's very odd given the price difference. Saving $10 over future proofing doesn't make much sense to me personally. I don't overclock mine, but I might one day.

Why 1333mHz ram? Why a B85 mobo and an unlocked CPU with no aftermarket cooler? Why that case? We can guess at the answers to these questions, but it would be riveting to read your build description if it included these answers. Because from where I'm sitting, your part list looks a little funky.

I was asking for the OP's own opinions. Hence why I stated that we (meaning you too) can guess at his motives.

Now the things you said wrong:

1333mHz is not faster. It is slower than the standard 1600mHz RAM (which his mobo can support).

You're right, not every build needs an aftermarket cooler, but if the OP is going to spend the extra cash on a K-series CPU, he should have a cooler to allow him to OC it.

And yes, a case does give it personality. But more importantly, different cases offer different options for cable management, cooling, and expansion. I wanted to know what about that case made him choose it over different cases with the same "personality".

Thanks for your opinions.

oh sorry, i take the thing i said about the ram back, you're correct but the speed difference isn't noticeable when you compare it to 1600 and 1333.

everything was good until i saw the B85 :c why you ruined it :c

Why? The B85 works perfectly fine. It overclocks, and clearly he wanted it in his build.

yes... he should get incredible overclocks from the B85.... Maybe he can even break the record... who knows.....

He obviously wasn't intending to be record breaker. If you are going to be nasty over a simple motherboard that won't affect the stock performance what so ever, you probably shouldn't be on this site. To everyone else, how does a B85 make this unbalanced?

no way a B85 overclocks as a Z87 or Z97. You're right in that the B85 (b as in business) will not affect stock performance but it will never overclock as a Z motherboard. I think this build deserve a better motherboard as this not a budget build....... FYI we don't even know if this build is being overclocked.......

Overclocking is pretty much in a sense, a cherry on top of a sundae. Is it necessary or required? No but it's a bonus. If you have a overclocked system, good for you. If you don't, also good for you.

The b85 isn't bad if he wants a basic motherboard.

yes!!!the case cost 2 times the motherboard, this build with a Z97 would certainly change
