Description

What was suppose to be a CPU upgrade from my old computer, turned into a completely new build. My old setup was a FX-9590, with a ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard. My graphics card I used was a R9 295x2 and 2 months ago upgrade my PSU to a corsair HX1200i. My old CPU kept blue screening my rig that I felt it was time to upgrade rather then trying to find a fix for it.

I got myself the Ryzen 1600X and the ROG Crosshair VI Hero board, some Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4, and a new case. when my parts came in I didn't know the 1600X did not come with a heat sink, so a quick trip to bestbuy, since I'm impatient, I got myself the corsair H60 liquid cooling, and ended up buying two GTX 1080 founders edition. For the front display I used the ASUS ROG gaming dual panel display.

Wow nice build! +1

I was wondering what type of performance you get pairing the R5 1600X with the GTX 1080? I'm looking into doing an AMD Ryzen (1600X or 1700) build with either a 1080 or 1080ti, but I have read that the R5 1600X might cause a bottleneck for those GPUs.

I think you are correct in saying that a 1600x will bottleneck a 1080 or 1080ti. Considering the fact that in performance they are relatively close to the i5-7600k, and that bottlenecks a 1080ti some.

I will have to look into this, I did not know the 1600x would create a bottleneck

Just keep cranking the details until it's not. ;-)

Comparing the performance of my old build, this runs slot better. Using the FFXIV stormblood benchmark with the 1600X and the R9 295X2 I got a score of 7800 but going with one 1080 my score jumped to 12400 and SLI gave me 13700. I love the performance I am getting, but I did not know the 1600x would cause a bottleneck

if he games in 1440p or above it won't be a bottleneck. And with two 1080s I hope hes gaming in 1440p or 4k lol

Oh okay. I was wondering how thermals were since founder's edition cards run hotter than non reference cards.
