Description

I built this to replace my aging laptop (Dell Inspiron 15R) as it was no longer meeting my needs. I use it mainly for 3d rendering, photo editing and gaming. ^(and ^reddit)

I purchased everything without noticing the incompatibility warning between the case and the cooler, I only noticed when I was putting it together and saw the clearance on the side of the box. I ended up putting the cooler on sideways and it just fits, the top of one of the heatpipes slightly touches the window.

I put in an old 80Gb drive to make cloning it onto an SSD easier when I can afford to get one. I will also get a better screen (1080p) and use my current one as a secondary.

Overall I am very pleased with it, it all runs within the limits at 4.3Ghz, I could probably bump it up a bit if I adjusted the voltage, all I did was bump the multiplier up to 21.5x.

The benchmarks and temperature tests were done with a case temp of 26°C.

EDIT1: Fixed cables as best I can.

EDIT2: I have been given an overheating WD black drive from a NAS. I have installed it directly in front of my intake fan to prevent any temperature issues.

Yeah, I tried putting the cooler on that way at first but the case is just not wide enough, but it fits if I put it sideways.

I'm getting another fan to put at the top, half of the air is ending up blowing over the dvd drive ATM, and I'll fix the cables tomorrow.
