This machine was originally built in 2015 as a NAS for viewing stored media via Kodi. It has recently been upgraded as a Plex server for my household and two remote connections to family members, at least for now.
The hard drives in the machine were all picked up over time which is why they are all varying in size with different hours on each. Some of these drives have been around for many years and in multiple machines. I will slowly replace the smaller drives with larger ones as needed. Also, I don't run any kind of RAID in this machine as it is used to solely store media (Movies, TV Shows, Music). I think I've only ever had one hard drive failure in the last 20 years of PC building and nothing on these drives can't be replaced if something did go wrong.
I threw the Zotac 1030 in this machine solely for the purpose of matching the 4K resolution from my main PC (9700K build here https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/dksZxr) when I remote desktop in. Without this video card, things did not want to scale properly with the motherboards maximum 1080p output leaving font VERY small for some things.
Recently picked this up used for cheap. Synced the Turbo to 3.8 GHz and left the voltage alone. This CPU replaces the G3258 the machine was running before Plex.
Not much to say about this other then it can't be beat for the price. Only issue is the bright blue LED's but a pair of wire cutters took care of those.
MSI boards have always been solid for me and it was a good price when I bought it new a few years ago. 6 SATA 3 ports with HDMI out was what made me pick this up back then.
Gets the job done and have never seen the need to add more for the tasks this machine handles.
This is a new item purchased in the last 30 days. It was $35 CAD shipped so hard to beat. Reliability is yet to be determined but so far so good.
49,000 power on hours and still running strong.
New drive added just before Christmas. Price was right.
40,000 power on hours and still running strong.
30,000 power on hours and still running strong.
35,000 power on hours and still running strong.
Simple, clean, lots of storage space with decent cable management. Also was pretty cheap a few years ago.
Quality components inside this PSU according to experts. It's been running for over 3 years 24/7 with no issues.
Shucked these drives to put into my machine. So far so good.
Used up all the onboard SATA ports of my motherboard and this was the cheapest option to expand. Bought in the last 30 days and it was plug and play.
