This is probably my record for best performance for the money, I'm pretty happy with it.

It started when I found an R9 290X on craigslist for only $50. I knew I had to jump on that deal before anybody else did. The guy was really nice, he just said he had no use for it and he needed it gone.

I also got the CPU, MOBO, and RAM in a bundle deal on ebay that I was pretty happy with. I grabbed a refurbished HDD and everything else new.

I'm pretty proud of the cable management I pulled off in the cheap case. Really happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to find it a new home!

Still a very capable CPU in 2019.

Video Card

I was impressed with the performance from a card this age. It trades blows with the GTX 1060 6GB and the RX 580 8GB, granted it runs a lot hotter and uses a lot more power.

Pretty nice case for the money considering it actually has some room for cable management along with 3 fans included and plenty of room for airflow.

Power Supply

Definitely a cheaper unit, but it's a reputable brand and I'm not going to be pushing more than 500W most of the time. If you're overclocking, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

If you haven't already I would highly suggest re-applying thermal paste to the GPU. In the past year I have dealt with two separate cards from that line that desperately needed it.

I also found a r9 290 (non-x version) for $50 on Craigslist!

Hm, that's interesting. What games was he playing? Did he have anything in the background? From the benchmarks I've looked at, it seems like it holds it's own decently.

Next time, I might try and put in something different. There's just such a big price difference between 4 and 6 cores. Maybe I should try and find some Zeons...
