Description

Upgrading from my old Alienware Aurora, time to get back to building my own. Build went well and performance is amazing. I'm really liking all the parts and this case :) Cabling is a bit messy, but this is more function over form ;)

Just need a new GPU (GTX 1080?) and wont have to scale up 1080/1440 to my 4k display.

4.6 Ghz OC on the 6600K @ 1.35 Vcore idle at 30 C and max load in high 70's C, the H115i works great.

You definitely should get a 1080. +1

why 1000w you could save like 60 dollars on the psu!

good power supplies are great for future expansion and re-purposing. Also the fully modular functionality is great to have in a system

He might have bought it before pascal was announced because the card he wants to upgrade to was expected to have a lot more of a hefty power draw than it actually does

I believe his motherboard also supports 2-way SLI :)

Yep, both of the above comments are spot on. Also, who knows what the next gen and after market cards will draw.

even if you buy a 1080 you will only need like 750w

Maybe will need two, for 4k @ 60 fps maxed out in future games.

I draw 500W currently with my 7970 Ghz and other components, so plenty of headroom :)

Really nice.. How you liking that cooler? I'm planning to get the same one. Did you replace the fans that came with it?

I'm going to build one too soon. Just waiting for the price to go down a bit. I'm still using my Alienware Aurora! Lol!

Cooler is great and a bit large, make sure it will fit in your case. The fans that come with it work very well, not seeing any reason to replace them currently.

Is the 7970 still worth it? :) My friend wants to get one.

I've had it for a few years, still great for maxed out 1080p gaming, not much higher res or you have to tone down the graphics.

Don't your HDDs get too hot on the back? Is it possible to mount them on the front?
