Already had (2) AMD RX 470s, just changed them over from an old build. Haven't installed them yet as I have to pick them up from my old address.

Anyways, this is one TIGHT build. I couldn't have made it all fit if I didn't try installing a different piece first at least five times. Cable management was meh, the case had a lot to do with that. It's not a bad case, it's just small. Let's just say you get what you pay for there. Can't complain. But watch out. My PSU was huge, so it almost completely blocked the HDD bays. This is where most of the reconfiguration and problem solving took place. Also, I do notice that the fan from the PSU is pointed inwards. If I flipped it around, it would be aimed at the top of the case where there would be no ventilation. I believe that would be worse than pointed inwards. So just a heads up, no vertical PSU vents, only rear.

It's a pretty decent computer, booted Windows 10 right up, no problem even without an internet connection during setup.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. Hopefully the GPU's fit, if not I will smack my head against the wall. Will update with pictures and what not when the GPU's are in. Will update with mining details and figures as well. Stay tuned, and wish me luck!

You know those Steves, always mining for diamonds.

Nice Build, would love to hear what your mining figures are like. +1

How are you going to put 2- RX470's in to a motherboard with only 1-PCIE 3.0 slot? Is there an adapter?

aprofile 3 Builds 3 points 17 months ago

Only 1 x16 slot. There are two PCIE slots. You can get 1x to 16x adapters and performance loss is very little in concurrency mining.

Good luck! I am staying tuned for updates. Keen to hear how this goes.

Also, I liked your build so much I featured it on my PC gaming and hardware Facebook page here - please let me know if you'd rather it not be up like this, and I can oblige.

I did take a gentle jab at it for the "overkill" CPU ;-) Sort of the opposite of the misguided 'bottlenecking' comment above: I thought you could have got away with even less processing power!

Nice mining rig. I am curious to see mining figures as I am considering mining. Could you reply when you update this with figures please?

No problem! I'll PM you if there's a way to do that as well.

a g3258 will definitely bottleneck crossfire 480's :/

not when it's used for mining...

Cryptocurrency mining. Your machine essentially does stuff, i.e solve complex problems or whatever, and in return you get cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. It's dependent on the GPUs so the CPU doesn't really need to be strong at all.

Techclarified 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Oh right, thank you :)

ryanp83 32 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

yeah, as mentioned in the title for the build :-)

Techclarified 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

yeah, I just wasn't even aware of what ethereum mining was ;)
