Description

I have been busting out my gaming fix out of a 750ti for a few years now and a fx-4800, it was time for an upgrade. I worked all summer in between university and saved all my money to build this monstrosity. Thankfully I bought in right before the mining spike in GPU's!

Definitely overkill on my crappy 1080p 60hz tv but I will upgrade eventually. I ran into many many problems this build, but loading up windows for the first time was well worth it all.

Part Reviews

CPU

Fast CPU, easy installation. No complaints here. The stock cooler is really nice and has nice RGB's.

Motherboard

The motherboard is asthetically pleasing, though a little annoying the IO panel is the same as the non-white version, and doesn't fit the color pallet at all. Doesn't matter too much since it is in the back, but that is the only real complaint hardware wise.

I had to knock off a star because of the BIOS. The first boot took way too much troubleshooting, and there seems to be a problem with the board with the first boot. I had to try a bunch of things, and once I cleared the CMOS I was golden. Be wary and ready for trouble.

Memory

The RGB's are nice, the plastic panel covering the top is poorly made and both can be removed fairly easily and taken apart, which shouldn't happen. It is nice and bright, and the memory is good once you overclock it.

Video Card

Great card, make sure you can fit it in your case! RGB's are great.

Case

I wanted to love this case, there is a known clearance issue with larger GPU's and even if you get a card that says it fits, theres a chance that the wires protruding will stop you from closing the side panel. You can try getting smaller wires if you have a problem or just leave the panel open like I have right now. Hopefully I will come to a fix for this soon. The plastic is kind of cheap feeling on the outside. Besides those things, the case looks really really nice.

Case Fan

Beautiful fans, probably overpriced.

Keyboard

Getting used to the cherry mx speed, but it feels fluid and the RGB's are some of the best on the market.

Mouse

The mouse has nice weight. The front RGB's are a little useless. Really all the RGB's are useless because your hand is over it, but it looks pretty from afar. Feels like quality

Awesome build! I want to do a micro ATX ryzen build and was wondering how did you like that motherboard?

LordDarthGreen 2 points 21 months ago

Awesome build! I am planning something similar, though I am going with a CM Storm Trooper case and an air cooling setup.

I love the case so much, I want to do my next build in it and switch my second computer to mATX how has the compact cube experience been so far?

The case is fun and small, 9 months in and I still really really enjoy it. I was finally able to fit the side panel on, I still recommend a smaller graphics card for the case though.

that ram, works at 3000mhz stable?... was easy to oclocke it?

tgraves719 submitter 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

Ram works fine, overclocks easily with the BIOS I use.

Hey man, nice build - I'm enjoying the case as well.

What CPU cooler do you have on there? I like the LED fan that came with it, is that stock for that processor?

YD_PinkWolf 2 points 18 months ago

Sorry im not him but i wanted to answer you-yes its an Rgb fan and it comes with the processor (only the 1700 to be exact) and its great for overclocking as well.Overall its a great fan.

Nice build dude! I was wondering, is it possible to change the CPU cooler LED to white? I've heard some folks say the wraith cooler's rgb doesn't get along well with the msi mortar motherboard so I've been hesitant to buy it.

tgraves719 submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

You can change the LED color, however the white comes out as more of a light purple. The other colors available through the Mortar motherboard looks fine but it is a small amount of choices.

Please tell me how you fit the gpu. I have the exact same one but 1070 and I’m about to bend the case so it can fit into the pci

Halp!
