Description

Built most of this a couple years ago. Updated it with new video card and power supply recently. These heavy cards sure have some sag but boy are they excellent . Still runs great and plays everything I throw at it on highest settings.

If anyone has the same case, they can appreciate the effort I put into cable management. It wasn't easy to make it look somewhat clean. lol

I've overclocked things as much as I can on air but I don't see the need to water cool at this point. Hits 11k and change in 3DMark Fire Strike.

Pics are not the greatest but best I could get with phone. Replaced the cheap LED fans with some quality ones.

So nostalgic for the case! My brother still has our old Core2Duo system in that one. Awesome cable management too.

I had a Core2Duo in this case aswell. That Duo is now powering my HTPC upstairs. Thanks for the complement on cable management. Ill tell ya it is a big PITA on these cases as im sure your brother can attest to. lol

Thanks! My only advice would be patience and really thinking it through. That being said, it wasn't fun trying to get things to go and sit where I actually wanted them to. lol

That Antec 900 is truly legendary, a beast in its own right. This build is really awesome! It's nice to see people re using their old parts because what need is there if you don't need the new and most shiny parts? That 290x is such a sexy card too. What do you use this rig for, exclusively gaming or what? Also, nice HTPC build with the g3258 (;

Thanks! Ive had this case for like 7 years now and its still a great case, has great cooling and is rugged. I couldn't justify upgrading the motherboard and CPU for the money considering I wouldn't really get any gain FPS wise in gaming. This machine is strictly for gaming and as a HTPC. It did serve double duty as my server until I recently upgraded it with the video card and built a new dedicated server PC.

The g3258 is a no joke, no holds barred type of cpu. For only being a dual core, it is such a kick *** little chip that will tear away at most games. I'm considering going down the road of buying some used parts for my first build, and I've seen the 3570k going for 130 bucks on my local craigslist, and the 7950 for 139 bucks at gpushack.. I really was hesitant about it at first, but honestly for deals like that I can't pass it up.

Great build. This will still be an excellent gaming build for a number of years. I feel you on that Antec Nine Hundred. I used that case in my second build back in 2007. Mine was the first Nine hundred. No holes for cable management. And it was incredibly heavy. I saw videos on Youtube of guy's cutting their own holes for cable management. lol.

I thought I had an original one as well but I guess not. Bought it like 7 years ago but it must be a second version or something looking at pics online. It has the cut outs but no USB 3.0. They really are great cases. Incredibly heavy is right! This case ways like 5 times as much, or more, then my server case. lol
