Description

This is my first build.

Maybe I have more money than sense, as they say. I decided I wasn't going to pay 5k for a VR rig when I could build one for a fraction(-ish) of the cost.

Intel 6700- I decided to get this because it had great reviews about overclocking with the newer mobos

I haven't had the time to OC yet, but from what I've seen I can expect to get to 4.5GHz pretty easily, especially paired with the z170a MSI m7.

I feel this is definitely overkill, I think we can all agree with that, but I just got a good new job and wanted to spoil myself.

Congrats in the Build. Once you get the X34 will be great stuff. Heh, you say overkill, but the X34 will make those 980Ti's will make those 980Ti's work hard. 2 is the sweet spot with that panel. Enjoy the beast! +1

What are you using SLI 980tis for?

My girlfriend REALLLY likes candy crush.

(Also, I want to be VR ready -- as well as just getting ultra settings on Witcher 3, etc. )

Its mainly a gaming rig.

Nice, but you may need some additional GPU power for candy crush...

Hmmm, first expensive build in awhile, where people aren't waiting for Pascal. And like the others have said... Free sync with 2 980tis?

  • 2 points

I completely overlooked that! I actually am in the process of returning the Free sync and getting the Predator x34 with G-sync.

  • 1 point

Fantastic.... but I'm a noob and ordered the wrong monitor-- so even with a stock 34 inch curved those 980tis are amazing.

What's the difference between this monitor, and the Acer Predator X34 (obviously other than the price, lol)?

  • 1 point

The x34 has G-sync ( designed for NVidia cards.) the one listed is designed for AMD chips.

Ah, well that really comes to show how much both companies sell their products for... Love your Fury card, it's very nice to see them on PCPP

Hey, i'm not that "rich" but i also would love to do many things with VR could you reccomend a build that is way lighter for the Wallet but still with reasonable power.

I made a topic about it if anyone could help more that would be awesome :)

You got a Freesync monitor and not a G-sync monitor?

  • 1 point

I was a little concerned about this too...

@ Christo84 Did you really get the XR341CK?

  • 1 point

Is this a bad thing?

  • 1 point

Freesync is utilized by amd graphics cards while g-sync is utilized for nvidia cards, and he got a free sync monitor

  • 1 point

So are they not compatible at all or will it just run... less efficiently?

I'm new to all this, and was wondering myself if I should run a positive vs negative airflow.

Should I lose it all together or make it an intake?
