Description

I researched and watched many youtube videos on how to build a pc from scratch and took forever deciding which components to get. I was stuck between a z170, a maximus VIII, then rampage V extreme n x99 deluxe. The rampage I had read that it was good for extreme overclockers and I wasn't planning on overclocking initially due to instability and is basically another confusing area of computers, messing with voltages, speeds, timings etc. Even entering BIOS and looking at all the stuff you can tweak was pretty scary stuff, a lot scarier than connecting up components within a chassis.

A lot of the components bought were from eBay, except for the chassis and the RAM. The chassis was bought from a Czech shop and including delivery, the 760T black was still cheaper than within the UK. All the stuff were bought separately and span over 2-3 months. I had crowded up my desk with the boxes but since the rest of the room was a mess anyway, it was no biggie.

Overall, the whole experience was really exciting and I'm really proud of my new PC. Hoping it will last for AGES and that the gfx card can keep up.

That is a pretty high-end graphics card, I have a friend who is still running most games with a 770. Love the red colors, Good job +1

Thanks! Yeah I checked on Passmark for the benchmarks and 780 was quite high up hence going for it. A friend of mine has 2x 780 SLI and he may consider upgrading and offered to sell them to me. So boom! More graphics :D The red braided cables came with the ax1000i psu from eBay so that's a bonus all for £162, was a bargain.

Thanks! I made sure the big window showed off the cleaner side. Plus watching the youtube videos published by Carey Holzman really helped too

Might be a misunderstanding on my end. That 780 is cool, but isn't a 960 cheaper? Especially in the UK.

It comes to around the same price. Because it was a Poseidon, it was more expensive compared to other 780's but that was my fault bidding on eBay. However, luckily my friend's gfx cards are also 780s so I can use them for longer. Then eventually upgrade. But yeah, if I have waited a bit longer to get the gfx card then it would be a 970. Damn Poseidon looking so sexy..

Wondering, are you going to take advantage of the water cooling on the Poseidon?

I would like to once I decide to overclock most things and build a waterloop within. But at that point, I'd get rid of the H110i GTX on the CPU. It's also another big investment to do the watercooling. But I came across the Poseidon on eBay so it gave me the option to expand in the future.
