Why did you get a z97 mobo? You can't over clock that cpu. If you had gotten a h97 mobo you could've saved some money.

Don't care much for OCing tbh.

In the OP's defense, Z97 boards have more features than H97 boards, even ignoring the overclock. I don't know if that was the reasoning here, but it's worth mentioning.

That is very true

like what kind of features?

Generally, because Z97 motherboards are top of the line products from their generation, manufacturers are more eager to add extra ports and better quality components to them than H97 parts. Aside from that, Z97 boards are also better suited to SLI configurations.

solid build, similar to my rig. I also have a i5 4460 and a Z97 mobo.

if you were trying to conserve a budget you should have gone with an AMD processor instead of intel

This is highly debatable and depends very much on what you want to do with the computer.

Ah, the old Z97 with a non overclockable cpu duo, I mean, its great for if you plan on upgrading in the near future to an overclockable processor. Other than that, you probably just didn't research that particular area. Its a solid build otherwise.

Some people get a Z97 for the often-overlooked extra features versus a cheaper board. That being said, it is the result of a research failure for many people.
