Description

This machine was built with budget in mind while being a powerhouse in gaming. The CPU is overclocked to 4.7 GHz! I have tested this game with Assassin's Creed Unity, the Witcher 3, and Shadows of Mordor. This little guy will absolutely play Shadows and Witcher at high settings with great frame rates. Obviously, Unity is a garbage title; however the Beat Down played it with high textures. There was some frame skipping as expected, but highly playable none the less. I was happy overall with the results and I felt the cable management turned out great for the case that this was built. At the end of the day, the case does its job and so does the rest of this computer. This will be a great machine for new PC Gamer.

Nice build on a budget. I am curious though, why the one Caviar Green and the smaller Caviar Blue?

Hey Guys, thanks for the comments. The reason I went with G3258 and the two different HDDs is because I built this from an old budget build and used different parts that I had lying around and needed to get rid of. The Price on the side does not reflect exactly what I paid, but I wanted to put it out there for people that would think about this type of budget. Also, the pentium at the current 4.7 GHz does not bottleneck the 270x whatsoever. Only game that doesn't play well is AC Unity and as everyone knows, Far Cry 4 doesn't play on it at all.

Did you really get 4.7ghz off that cooler because I am building a similar build and was thinking of getting a cheaper cooler other than the hyper212 evo.

Yes, it was really with the air cooler. Sorry it took so long to reply. Remember, it's always a chip lottery, but you should still get a killer overclock with this cpu. I think 4.4 - 4.6 is pretty standard around the web. 4.7 was just lucky on my part.

Did you need to update the BIOS in order to use the CPU with your motherboard?

No, however, I did need to update the bios and clear the CMOS in order to overclock the CPU.

Ah okay thank you! I'm about to get this same CPU/Mobo combo and people were saying that I couldn't use the CPU until I had updated the BIOS. Guess they were wrong! Nice build :)

I think that your pentium may bottleneck the r9 270x with its 2 cores I would eventually go for an i3 at the minimum i5 is ideal nice buildthough great job

not as much when its OC'd to 4.7ghz, rather go for an i5, the i3's aren't that much better, you can't even overclock them.

I don't think the g3258 will bottleneck a 270x in any game when it's OC'd over 4ghz. 270x is a super budget card and great for budget builds.
