So to start off with, this build is still in progress. I cut some corners for the time being to get it up and going as I was out of a computer towards the end of the build. The GPU, CPU Cooler, RAM and wires will are most likely be removed later this year. I want to try my hand at water cooling and I changed my mind on the color scheme about a month into the build, but I had already ordered the custom cables...oh well lol. I didn't really had a budget. I just bought a few parts each paycheck. I use this PC mostly as a gaming/general use PC.
I settled on the i5 just because I have pretty much no need for hyper threading. I may try my hand at some video editing and what not down the road but right now I am content with the i5. The cooler was just a quick fix for a few months until I get all of the parts for the custom loop. I went with the H110i GTX because of the 140mm fan size (I feel like they fill up the case nicer than 120mm) and the Corsair name is well trusted. I got the board because it was a great black and white board and it was new at the time I bought it. Turned out great. Goes with my end game color scheme and the bios is easy to navigate. Only thing I wish it had was more USB headers RAM was an impulse buy for white DDR4. Lol. It gets the job done. Storage is storage. The 850 EVO is amazingly fast though having never experienced an SSD. I settled on a GTX 970 for now expecting the 1080 and 1070 releases. I picked it up off of Craigslist. It's a great card and will probably be kept around for experiments. I love the Define S case. I have no complaints whatsoever. Very easy to build in and the cable management is great!
All in all, for my first build, I think it went pretty well. I will be building a custom loop for her very soon. The cables will be swapped out to match my color scheme. I know, I know, function over aesthetics...but if I'm building it, I might as well enjoy looking at it. Thanks for looking!!!
Sorry for the poor picture quality. Using an iphone lol.
