The PC part picker tool was really helpful. I spent about a month thinking about what I needed from the PC and juggling various builds before settling on this one.
One of the suppliers I bought a part from was really slow and I ended up having to buy the part elsewhere before boredom set in so I recommend you wait for all parts before starting if you are the impatient type like me!
I set aside a weekend for the build but it took just about a day in total. There were poor instructions with the case and the fan connectors had me stumped for a while. I wanted to make sure I understood what I was doing before choosing where to hook them up. The case came with the front fan in the bottom position, and I later found, when I could not reach the motherboard with the fan lead, that it was meant to come in the top position. The fractal company video clearly showed this. Fortunately, once I knew it had to be at the top to make the lead reach, the case was an absolute dream to make it so - the simple mechanisms of swopping stuff about are great for a first time builder like me. I would definitely buy this case or similar again.
I use my new PC for photography, webpage design, web surfing/email, graphic adventure gaming (point and click), hooking up to my TV and music multimedia system, office type stuff etc.
The PC is indeed quiet. I can only just hear the fans, and the odd click of the hard drive when it is working hard such as when I installed the OS. I often forget it is on!
Update: It's been working well now for over three and a half years. This would have been the time I started to experience the desire to buy a new computer pre self build days so it seems strange as I will have to place an order with myself to upgrade its parts or leave it. I have no issues with it so must be a good make! I built a second one soon after this one for my husband which is also running well.
