This computer is a never ending upgrade where the guts are constantly being swapped out and replaced.

The case started as a Rosewill Conqueror mid, to a Antec 902, to the now amazing NZXT Phantom full tower. The amount of air flow you can achieve with this case is almost overkill. There is so much room inside as well, SLi with 3 or 4 cards would be a breeze and fitting a water cooling loop would leave will room to spare.

The Phenom X4 965 has been rock solid for several years now keeping up with all the gaming I give it. I've since upgraded to a i5-4670k, I found a deal I just couldn't pass on. This CPU is outstanding for all the games I play on this computer. I haven't yet tried to overclock it but I also find no reason to.

Some point in the life of motherboard it had a minor meltdown and a resistor of sorts literally self destruct, I never could figure out why it did or why the computer still ran perfectly normal with it gone...

16gb of Corsair Vengence ram may be more than this build needs but with the deal I got, I couldn't pass it up!

The WD Caviar Black drives have been completely reliable and have been for years, I added the Caviar green for media, and the SSD for OS.

//The Asus GTX 560 was a big upgrade from the previous card a 9800GT, and it runs high end games pretty good. //Although I now think I should have gone with the 2GB version for a bit more coin. I don't know where it comes from, //whether it be the modem, cpu, or the gpu, but I do sometimes get a bogging down effect in a lot of games.

//The sound card in my machine is actually a Creative X-FI Titanium 7.1. And I would warn against buying it, the //hardware may work properly, but the drivers for it are terrible. They aren't updated and not very Windows 7-8 //friendly, I have a hard time telling any difference between onboard sound and the card.

OCZ 850w Full Modular. That is 100% modular, a lot of PSUs are "modular" but it often doesn't include the 24 pin, this one does. Although unfortunately the 4 pin cable isn't long enough to reach around back and up to the cpu plug, I may get some cable extensions at some point to clean up the cabling a bit more.

Corsair K90 - I upgraded to this keyboard from a Saitek Eclipse II, it's mechanical keys are amazing! Unfortunately the game bind keys and F1-F12 keys are not mechanical. It's not a big deal really, just would have been nice to have them all be the same.

Even though PcPartPicker doesn't have headsets, I have to say that the Logitech G930 is an amazing headset! It's wireless battery life on a charge will last about 9-10 hours and has a range around ~50ft. The marco keys on the side make it awesome for using P2T or music while away from your keyboard. Definitely worth the buy.

They don't even carry them at a lot of places anymore, they do still sell the 970, but for another $55 I could do even better with a FX 8350 or 8320.

Except you don't need 8 cores for gaming. I think this build is perfect. All I would suggest upgrading is the motherboard and the video card, when the times come.
