Description

Have it hooked up to an old 42" flat panel and use an xbox 360 contoller. Coupled with the Steam big picture it will be a great console replacement for years to come with plenty of options to expand as long I can buy and install before my wife gets home.

Originally started with AMD 4170 ocd to 5.05ghz (stable) and a cheap MSI mobo bought it with only the intention updating a prior build, worked well however my gpu underperformed compared to most benchmarks. Decided to go all out and get the i5 based on toms guide and personal preference I went with the Asus mobo. Picked up at least 15% more fps and overall stability. Not my first build but the first time I swapped out mobo and cpu within 3 months.

You should have gone with a 7950. Better performance for the same price you payed.

"...as long I can buy and install before my wife gets home"

What's that mean exactly? Sounds like you're bending a rule or something, lol.

Looks like a nice build. +1

I knew it would lead to more but even I have to admit this project ran over budget, only problem now is should I grab another card and crossfire?

Overkill on the RAM, w/e. All in all, nice build.

I don't believe in overkill look at the gd tower all I need is a way to mount legs on it and have it double as a coffee table

8gb is more than enough for gaming, so personally, I'd rather not spend the extra $$$ on something I won't use, but like I said, nice build anyways.
