I originally built this in 2014, this is an updated (and improved) build The original build can be seen here. The main problem with that build was the video card. I didn't research well and had a friend choose most of the parts for me.
Anyway, on to this current setup. I really enjoy it. I recently got an internship that pays well and gives me weekends off so I have the time and money to invest in this machine right now so I figured why not!
Updated from the past build is:
The stock cpu cooler
The video card
Added 3 fans
Put a little drawer in the second drive bay
All of the prices are fixed to what I had paid for them at the time and unfortunately some of the parts were way more expensive back in 2014!
I use this primarily for gaming and of course I browse the web. It runs everything on ultra right now with this video card- it's amazing considering what else I have had experience with. My previous card after the radeon was a gigabyte ge force GTX 660 which ran everything at medium or high quality, and could sometimes run things at ultra, but truth be told I was a little scared to run things at ultra; it was by no means a wimpy card though on its own and it was a HUGE upgrade from that radeon I made the mistake of purchasing.
So far all of the parts I have have worked really well for me and I haven't had any problems. I took both of the sound dampening panels off of the top of the case to put up fans since my pc is getting warmer with these upgraded parts and it has helped keep it nice and cool! It's relatively quiet as well with a satisfying "whoosh" when I turn it on :D
All comments and critiques are appreciated! Thanks for checking my build out! Let me know if you want to see the build from any other angles and I'll snap a pic!
works well and with an upgraded cooler works well-er
Nice cooler 9/10 would recommend
Love it, had no problems. I like the amount of hookups and ports it has; lots of room for upgrading and has a nice aesthetic, sturdy.
A good Ram
Have had no problems with this, haven't heard any weird noises, works well
Love the looks love the performance love the card 10/10 she's beautiful
I wish there was a little more space in the back for cable management because I have to sometimes force the panel back on and finagle with the wires quite a bit to get it to close, but otherwise I love this case. It looks nice, it's sturdy, and I like the door and side panel window. my only other complaint is that it's heavy so taking it anywhere is a little taxing on these arms, but that's really not that big of a deal 2 birds 1 stone get buff when you take it to a LAN party
I've had no problems with it, works well and is an ample amount of power for my setup.
I probably spent too much on this but it reads blu rays and zoo tycoon like a champ.
I generally dislike windows 8.1 but I needed an os and didn't want to deal with trying to find 7 for some reason I can't remember it was 2014
Wireless Network Adapter
it works. 8/8 gr8 m8. The software it comes with works too and I get a signal. that's enough for me
Good airflow, good looks, worked out of the box. Don't make the same mistake I did and try to test out which way the air is flowing by trying to put a cotton square near it and instead put your finger in it. 10/10 scared me and hurt my finger a little bit, but that rpm was good.
Came with the case, works well. I'm using them for the front intake right now
I like this monitor it looks good and it's a good size for me and even though my video card might be overkill for this monitor it serves me well and I'll have it for a few more years I imagine.
I love this keyboard it's awesome. I like the more subtle RGB lighting effects that this can give, but I also like the option to have a spinning rainbow on my keyboard when I show it off to people lol! My only slight regret is not getting the clickiest keys because I thought I wouldn't like them, but I tried another keyboard with different switches (idk exactly what they were but they weren't brown) and I really liked the click. However, I still love this keyboard it's loud enough for me :D and it performs well in games.
I really enjoy this mouse! It took me a second to get used to since I was used to using really small mouses (mice?) but I love having the ability to adjust my DPI on the fly, and I like the amount of buttons this has.
The mic on this really picks up the sounds of chips when you eat them if that gives any insight to the quality. The sound quality is pretty nice too, overall I like these headphones. They're simple and they work nicely.
It works and it also works with a mac which I have so that's why I went with this one. It was also well reviewed.
This is a great mouse pad , very high quality and makes everything real smooth. I like the size too, it's 15x11 in so it's not small but it's not a full desk mouse mat.
