Description

This is my long built upon tower. Mainly a gaming machine with a little bit of work thrown in for good measure. Ive rebuilt this thing over the last year from a all white build to its current form.

Upgrade Path: Only plans are for a GTX980TI and ditch the Sli setup, I'd Love to try out EVGA Hybrid Card, and to redo the ram situation.

Overall Thanks PC Part Picker if it wasnt for your community I would be lost. Comments are welcome!

Part Reviews

CPU

Its been a great processor with absolutely no issues for me.

CPU Cooler

Only complaint in the build is the stock fans I feel are a little loud but im working on a fan profile at the moment.

Motherboard

Checks all the boxes not much to say stable and strong. Good Board for the money.

Memory

Its ram, my 16 gig sticks died so I had to pick up something local. This will be upgraded in the future.

Storage

My first SSD is still kicking, its not the fastest but I love the thing regardless.

Storage

Mass Storage ,Cheap Reliable.

Video Card

I actually love these cards in SLI nice temps and I haven’t had any issues. I would recommend these all day for a 1080p Build.

Case

Its been awarded time and time again, I actually switched the case from an Air 540 to this. My noise is down and I love the minimalist aesthetic.

Power Supply

For the money I've found these amazing lately. I used to go Corsair only but fully modular with nice black sleeved cables and 80+ Gold I’m in. You have a new customer Evga.

Monitor

I love this monitor, I diched the triple monitor surround set up for this and I couldn’t be happier, it's a touch expensive but I don’t think I can go back to the 16:9 setup.

Sweet build here. Can't wait to see your planned future updates in it. What are your load temps for those GPUs in SLI? If you can post them that would be greaaaat. +1

Nice clean build. Great choice that combo krait + nzxt case, really fits well.

Why did you go for a 60Hz monitor with 970s in SLI driving only 1080p? I'd always go something GSYNC and at least 85Hz. Had to find out the hard way here...but I'd say you're missing out on all that good power you've got there.

I know.... but the next monitor will be a GSYNC monitor but for this I wanted the wider aspect ratio and this I found on sale at the time.

Gotcha. I guess on the plus side you won't spend much time tweaking the game to run at max refresh :-)

Did you get the PC name from Dom Esposito on YouTube? His Pc is called "Black Ice" as well. Nice build overall. :)

Ummm dont you think that 40.00 GHz is a bit to low? I run mine at something like 44.00 GHz, but that is with some serious cooling backing it, like cooling that we have never seen before. So yea...

Don't worry, you can get h100i's with liquid nitrogen, so 40ghz isn't unreachable. :P

That's about the clock speed an AMD CPU will need to match an Intel one... (bad joke) lol
