Description

I mainly use this PC for gaming and school work.

The only real issues that I had was a problem with the RAM seating correctly. Motherboard would throw RAM error post codes. Reseated the DIMMs a couple times and everything was good.

I also ran into an issue with AMD overdrive and MSI Afterburner not playing nice together. Ended up booting into black screens after attempting to OC the GPU. To make things even more annoying, I had enabled fast boot in the BIOS, so I couldn't even boot in to safe mode since it would skip loading the keyboard drivers during POST.

Luckily, the Gigabyte mobo has a clear CMOS switch on it that made reverting my bios settings very easy, and after that, I was able to boot in to safe mode and uninstall both pieces of software and reinstall the AMD drivers again. Everything has been smooth since then. I decided to forego OCing the GPU after that, as the r9 390 really doesn't have much room for overclocking since it's basically already an overclocked 290 with some extra vram.

Card absolute destroys everything I've ran on it at 1080p though. I really need to pick up a QHD monitor and see how it performs there.

Getting a very nice 4.6ghz overclock on the processor. Very happy with the mobo as well as the 6600k.

Not too shabby! Cable management could be done better, but overall, you've done a great job. Excellent choice on your GPU BTW.

+1 :)

Yeah its kind of a mess down at the bottom with the front panel stuff. I also had a hard time figuring out what yo do with the USB connection for corsair link.

Thanks for taking a look at it :)

Right, plus those ssds don't appear to be secured to the trays at all.

PS, Jipster's been very sporadic. He only comments once in a while these days. Think he's taking a sabbatical from PCPP

They're not. I wasn't able to find any m3 screws. Will fix that eventually.

Jipster?

On a side note, I also need to figure out a different place to put that second SSD. I'd really like to remove that drive cage.

What about mounting the ssd/hdd in the optical drive bays? Are there any mounts behind the mobo tray?

Not really a way to mount them up there. Unfortunately, no. I think this case was designed before the SSD mounts behind the mobo tray were really a thing. I've had it for a few years. It was one of the few things in this build that I carried over from another build. If my budget were bigger, I'd have probably went with a Fractal Define S.

I think I'm probably going to end up have to stick them somewhere with double sided tape if I want to get that drive cage out of there.

Maybe on the side panel right behind the cage?

Got a couple Corsair SP120 Quiet editions coming to throw in there as well, btw.

That would've been my next suggestion. Either that or velcro strips to make it easier to remove if the need arises. I used them to mount my fan hub and Hue+.

Used command strips lol. Also took the drive cage out and put the fan that was mounted on it onto the side panel to keep the 390 nice and chilly. (That fan is loud as hell though.)
