Description

I've had this build for over a year. The picture of the guts is not updated, but the only thing that's different is the HIS 6950 Graphics card. Also in the parts list, the speakers are not the right model. I have the Logitech G51 surround sound system and they are perfect. The only complaint I have about my build is the small capacity of the SSD, I have Windows 8, a couple drivers, and the absolute minimum amount of program files on there, and I still run out of space while using it because the temp folder grows by itself. :/ It's bothersome, so when I can afford it, I will buy a larger SSD, but man, IS IT FAST!!

The budgeting part was the most agonizing part of the build, only because it took so damn long to get all the parts together! I just waited for the right deals on Woot!, Newegg, Craigslist, my cousin who is on Intel's design team, and my good friend for the GPU.

Frame rates are for the most part very high. A couple games it will lag, such as Hitman: Absolution on absolute highest settings, but it doesn't take much compensation to fix that.

Now that I think about it, the motherboard is crap. It gives me this weird-*** letter-number combo on startup, which MSI didn't help me with. And when I sent it in, rather than replacing it like the should have, they charged me $45 because the clip for the GPU was cracked off. I wasn't happy, but alas, it does what it should. I will most likely upgrade that in the near future too.

It's nice seeing a build with some older parts in it.

So many drives...question, how do you like that case? Durable? Doesn't feel cheap? I'm considering this and the arctic c70 for a future build. By the way, those are some great temps.

I just built a computer with the same case and it's awesome. Lots of space for cable management and good cooling with the stock case fans.

I completely agree. It's super clean and easy to install, and also to keep dusted and what not. It's extremely durable and completely worth the moderate price tag!

i always neglect the power of craigslist! That's cheap still. Even I'd have sold it for like $200. That's a $300 system. :P
