Description

This is my first build, i have always wanted to build a gaming pc after having several alien ware laptops. My baby beast went through alot of changes but the parts listed people is the final build

The original list of parts was Cpu : i5 - 4670k cooler : Corsair h60 Motherboard : MSI Z87m Gaming Memory : G skill Ripjames Storage ssd: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128gb Storage HDD: Western Digital 1tb Graphics Card : 2x MSI R9 270 Case : Bit Finex Shinoboi PSU : Be Quiet Power zone 750w.

This was the original build that gamed like a beast but i just didnt like the way it looked and two R9 270 didnt perform aswell as i would have liked. so i went though some changes i swapped the case out for a Areocool Dead silence game cube. i wanted a Bit Fenix Prodigy M but i didnt like the fact it had no cable management and as a newbie i was scared that a wire would get snagged by a spinning fan so the gaming cube was brought and im glad i did. nice small case and it looks nice.

The 2x MSI R9 270 was sold and replaced with a EVGA GTX 760 which is a beast of a card that gets put through it paces while the performance is down slightly from the two R9s it give me better frames on games that are no optimised for crossfired cards and plays all the old and modern games at high or very high settings at 60fps on full hd monitors or sometimes a tv when my mates came round. I am planning on getting a second 760 to complete my build in the next coming months as gaming across 3 screens was a bit of a push for one 760 my frames started to dip to 30-45 when playing titanfall across 3 screens ( was a Alpha tester game is brilliant )

the total for my build will all the discounts and swap outs ended up being £850 which was well spent

Building it has been a emotional journey but i enjoyed it, playing on doing a small i3 build in the future for girlfriend to game and do some light rendering. will post when done.

UPDATE in the space of a week my pc went into melt down, my 4670k was faulty as it would do a really weird thing of restricting itself to running on only one core. no matter what i did take apart, clean, new thermal paste, new software it just wouldnt worked this wasnt helped by the pump on my h60 watercooler crapping out so amazon gave me a brilliant deal. As at the time the 4670k and h60 werent in stock so they could replace my items the refunded me the full amount i paid and gave me a i5 - 4430 for £60 performance is down but nothing you will notice. havent lost any frames in gaming a my renders are maybe 30 seconds to a minute slower but i got money back and got a working pc. i grabbed the Phanteks cooler as it was cheap and sort of lost faith in corsair.

PC is back and working, cheaper but running better then it every has

Great build +1 from me. Can I ask where you managed to get those monitors from for £50 a piece? On their page, they're listed as £156 from Amazon.

Yeah i got them off ebay for £50 quid each free postage. they were being sold by dell as a company cancelled a order so dell put them on ebay for dirt cheap came with a year warranty, all the cables but no stands. got jetmaster desk mount and a duroinc mount for £50.

Nice job with the build, mate! You did a fantastic job at snagging some great deals, especially with those monitors! I can't help but chuckle whenever I look at that case. To me, it just looks a bit silly and something that came out of a kid's playpen with that curved front. Still, good job with all of that!

P.S. I see you have good taste in women. Marilyn Monroe was a stunning woman!

I was thinking of getting that case in a couple of days, how you liking it?

nathan13n submitter 1 Build 1 point 61 months ago

Hi. the case is a brilliant case i would suggest you be very careful with your power supply as mine came out of a ATX tower and was a struggle to get into the case. The cable management is very good for a small case, i have a ssd and 3.5 hdd in there. All in all i would recommend THE CASE IT WAS A GREAT PURCHASE.

Is there enough room in that case/with that motherboard to SLI your GPU?

nathan13n submitter 1 Build 1 point 61 months ago

Yes there is i had two r9 270 before i swapped over to a 760. they fitted in the case fine it did increase my system temp from about 35 - to 40 - 50 which isnt a problem.
