This was my first upgrade since 2013. Here’s the link to my first build https://pcpartpicker.com/b/KbT
Much time has passed since then, doesn’t feel like it much lol. But my old PC was definitely starting to show it’s age. I’ve been meaning to upgrade it for the last two years, but always fell short on funds. Not this time, I actually decided to save money this time. Within just a few months, we’re here haha.
This rig is purely for gaming and aesthetics. I was gonna upload it when I received my cables from cable mods, but boy, those won’t be here for another 3 weeks. I should’ve ordered them a while ago. I’ll post an updated photo when they come in, for now, this is the build in its current state.
Some comments I have about the parts I purchased:
*Absolute pleasure to build in this case versus my old Corsair 200R. I never felt I was out of room. Never felt overwhelmed with cables due to how much space I had to work with. That cable cover for the side panel, lord it is clutch!!!! It is the Infinity gauntlet to cables. You see how crazy it looks versus when I put it on hahaha. But yeah, this case is 10 out of 5 stars. I tried to get the XL version, but i couldn’t find it anywhere for reasonable price. But this case is definitely just as good.
*This ram is absolutely gorgeous, I tried my very best to get you a view of how it looks in person. I personally feel I failed in providing that. It is just something you have to see in person to truly appreciate. If I didn’t choose this ram, I feel this build would’ve lacked the pop it currently has.
*Do I need 32GBs? Not at all, but I was specifically going for aesthetics when choosing this memory, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It is indeed very high quality ram, and quite speedy.
*I originally purchased an RTX 2080 Ti TRIO. Ran some benchmarks on some of the games I play, and realized it was a complete waste of money. So I went with this, even this card is kind of a waste and I personally suggest buying a 2070 or lower. The price is not worth the performance at all. However, I got a great finance deal on it, 24 months no interest. I couldn’t be happier with the performance and I can’t wait to OC it. If the finance offer wasn’t available, I for sure would’ve went for a 2070 or 5700 XT.
*Runs all my games @60FPS maxed in 4K (DBFz, Halo, Dota, Crysis 2, Borderlands, and others). The greatest part about pc gaming - once you bump up a game to 4K, it looks like a brand new Triple A title. Crysis 2 is an example of that. All these games I could only run at 1080p 60fps on medium to high settings on my original PC. So running them at 4K on a QLED TV is GLORIOUS.
*Crazy fast SSD. Definitely feel a huge speed difference between my old pc and my new one. Didn’t go for M.2 as I wouldn’t really benefit from all the features M.2s provide. I just game, and that’s it. The 970 Evo was $30-$50 more for the same storage space. No point in buying that.
*I still have to pickup a standard hard drive for my emulators that I play. Have a gigantic library of games I have to port over.
Overall, I love this PC and couldn’t be happier with it. There’s literally nothing I would change about it. Maybe just the video card when ampere finally releases, but yeah. Hope you guys enjoyed my little log and my build.
Happy new year! - Drew
