17/03/2016 - Toothless~

The Beginning: I wanted my own gaming rig that would be mid to high end for Overwatch, World of Warcraft (for the new expansion), mostly blizzard games which is why I went with Nvidia over AMD. Plus the GTX 970 comes with a free game "The Division" which looks pretty interesting. I also play League of Legends, Ori and the Blind Forest and heaps of other games on steam.

I wanted my new pc to run pretty much all games that I could bounce off on down the line. I wanted my new pc to be silent, look good and have good airflow.

Over 8 months of saving up, researching, stressing over what graphics card to go for and bugging the hell out of PCPP community on the forums with all my annoying questions. (I'm sorry about those times but I thank those who helped me get passed my decision making.

I spent about 3-4 hours putting it all together. I tried my best with keeping the cables tidy.

Intel i5-6600: I am pretty happy with the cpu, and stock cooler actually is pretty quiet. I don't notice it at all.

MSI H170 Gaming M3 ATX: I chose this motherboard, mostly for the MSI dragon logo and really liked the black and red theme. Damn nice motherboard :)

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4-2133: I went with the Kingston HyperX ram, as it was pretty much the same price as Corsair.

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" SSD: Fast, Tiny and Reliable.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM: Cheap, Quiet and does the job.

MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V: I was originally going to go for the R9 380/390, but I got the MSI GTX 970 at a really good price with free shipping. Too bad it doesn't come with a backplate, which I was pretty sad about.

Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX (Black): I originally ordered this case in the grey one but it was on back order for nearly over a month, so I decided to swap the grey one and go with the black instead. It's such a nice case, super quiet and pretty damn sleek to build in and such a sexy case!

EVGA G2 650W Power Supply: I bought this off Amazon, since stores in Australia don't stock this. I was fussy with the power supplies here and wanted the best 650W power supply which was highly recommended on Jonnyguru. So damn quiet<3

Windows 10 Home (USB): Took off all the security stuff that windows 10 is known for. After that was all done, I can relax and carry on. It runs so fast!

Logitech G15: As much as I wanted to get a pretty new RGB gaming keyboard, this logitech one I have still works fine for me.

Razer Naga Molten Mouse: This mouse isn't really that old, and there's nothing wrong with it. So I didn't really need to go out and buy a new one.

NZXT Hue+ Lighting kit: The NZXT Hue+ lighting took a little fiddling around with getting the cables neat but I think its still worth it lol.

I love how you can choose any song and the lights just go with the music! Really awesome product. The software itself is not too bad. I'm still getting used to changing things to what I want it to be.

18/03/2016 - The Last Piece. My graphics card finally arrived. Only a day late but I'm glad I got to install it before the weekend! It's quiet and looks awesome lit up!

you have a lot of ram +1 Try enabling Rapid using the samsung magician. The performance of my Samsung 850 Evo out performed the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD. Samsung 850 in rapid = READ: 2868.59 MB/s WRITE: 2343.71 MB/s compared to Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 = READ 2168.43 MB/s WRITE: 1449.98 MB/s and so on. This is due to the use of ram as cache for your ssd. In default once you activate it, it will take at a maximum of 1 gb ram.

after enabling it you will be asked to restart it, just restart and it will be done. Note: you dont need to have the samsung magician running after enabling it, you can also remove it from startup. have fun :)

This was my first build so I don't really know how to answer that. I guess I would say it's not bad quality but maybe it could be a bit better? It didn't cut me or snap so that's also good to know xD

Before installing the cpu chip, I found the latch on the motherboard really stubborn. Again, this was my first build and maybe most of the latches are like that. That was the most stressful part for me lol. I thought I was going to break it. -_-
