Description

This PC was completed on February 6, 2016. I came from being a console peasant.

This PC can destroy any game at 1080p and 1440p.

I have given this PC 2 different names. "Arctic Hell" because my theme is red, but my temps are always below 60c. "Agile Grandpa" because the parts in it are multiple years old, but like said earlier, it can tackle any game.

My building experience building this rig was hell. This case is practically a Micro ATX-sized ATX case. The cable management experience almost made me want to kill myself. I suggest if you're going to buy this case, go SSD only because the HDD bays in the PSU Shroud are literally less than two inches away from the power supply, so it was almost impossible to get the cables to makes such a sharp turn.

With the negativity out of the way, this was still a blast to build, no matter how many meltdowns I had while building it. With this being my first build, the experience was great. When it is all complete, the only thing you can do is look at your new PC and think "Wow... I built this."

I plan on upgrading in the Winter of 2017/18 or Spring of 2018. Because although this rig is a beast, it is slowly drowning in the sea of demanding games. Plus, I want to get a good taste of dat Ryzen and Vega.

And this, when I saw it I screamed like a little girl.

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Why do you say why?

I'm just trying to get a good taste of dat Ryzen. I don't wanna buy it yet, I wanna wait until independent benchmarks and months after to see if the CPU can last just a lil' bit.

Zurus 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

I said "why" as the computer is already a beast and i question why you go from that costly pc to more parts that are gonna cost you

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

This sounds like a cliche, but technology is advancing. I bet in about a year from now, my PC will be down in the dirt, meaning it won't be "a beast" because there is new and better hardware. Plus, I'd like to get Ryzen. AND, as a 980 Ti user, I get a bonus on my 1080 Ti purchase. So why not?

This rig is so solid. Something tells me you'll be making periodic upgrades before then. Besides it gives you time to get it right. I got parts sitting in my bedroom cuz I can't figure out my fan setup. 3 months brother. Nice rig!

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Thanks! I actually have made upgrades. I got this build in Feb of 2016. Since then, I have gotten a new case, PSU, another 2x8 kit of ram, and a liquid cooler.

jakesno 1 point 15 months ago

Krikey. Then "boring" has got to go! Nothing boring going on here... Move along. Come to this page to witness Beast Evolves

cheers

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Well I mean sure the color scheme is great and all the parts are matching, but you can't lie, there's nothing that makes the rig "pop."

That placement for the stickers is top notch, I think i'm going to steal the idea

Did you actually spend $700 on a 980 ti?

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Yep. My price at checkout, which included tax, was $700.31. But I bought it when the 980 Ti was the best card around.

Lolikeaboss03 1 point 14 months ago

"First build" "Gets 980ti"

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

What's wrong with that?

Lolikeaboss03 1 point 14 months ago

It's just funny

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Um...ok.

CodysPCParts 1 point 14 months ago

omg i have the same pc except only 16gb of ram and its corsair ballistix

CodysPCParts 1 point 14 months ago

and its was only 620$ lol

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Nice! Although, Corsair ballistix doesn't exist. You mean Crucial Ballistix.

CodysPCParts 1 point 14 months ago

lol yeah. and sorry i got back to u so late ive been at school

CodysPCParts 1 point 14 months ago

OC'd it to 4.6GHz with only air and my temps are stable so happy, what is urs OC'd to?

klct555 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Sorry for the late response. I have mine OC'd to 4.6 Ghz. My temps are very stable. But, my CPU will RARELY reach over 70C when playing really CPU intensive games like BF1 or Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
