Description

Just built this as an upgrade from a 6 year old laptop =]

I originally planned on a ~$500 budget for an i3-6100 and GTX950, but decided to go with the i5-6500 and r9 380 instead (got them from jet.com with the 15% discount)

I chose the z170 mobo and ddr4-2666 ram with intentions to overclock the i5... I've currently got it running at 4.0ghz because I like the even number =D

(I've also read that intel is removing the overclock from non-k processors so I might end up returning this mobo for a cheaper one to save a couple bucks)

My girlfriend bought me the cooler and I love how it looks; it's quiet and also dropped my max temps from stock under load by around ~8 degrees

The hdd, monitor, keyboard, and mouse were all old parts from around the house

My next purchase will probably be some type of cheap lighting as my case does have a window so I might as well make it look cool... just don't know what color and what to get yet...?

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

I chose this cooler because its small and looks awesome.

Its quieter than the stock i5-6500 cooler and dropped my load max temps from ~67 degrees to ~59 degrees with the average load temps dropping from about ~66 to ~53

For the price I'd say you could get a better performing cooler but it probably won't look as good.

Love it, and the nzxt hue+ is a little high end at like 50 bucks but yeah it's the best choice.

I've seen those and they look so nice... but I think I might just grab one of those cheapo $10 lights and see how it looks since I'm on a budget haha

Thats another valid option too¡

Nice prices by the way. I have a similar build saved, but the same CPU and GPU in it are more expensive (30$ both) for some reason:)

Oh ya I took advantage of jet.com's 15% coupon code for the cpu and gpu so roughly ~$30 savings for each =]

Hi!

How do you managed to get ~$30 savings for each? I'm trying to do the same, but the most I get is ~$30 savings for both :( using the "first time" coupon.

Hey sorry for the late reply, I received $30 for both because I used two accounts so two coupons. I used my girlfriends address for the second account since I think Jet.com doesn't like you making multiple accounts.

Meslas, he used the the coupon separately. One on mobile and one on pc
