Description

My entry from console into PC gaming. It’s my very first build and everything went flawlessly. Not really much to say on this. The case has fairly good air flow. I overclocked to cpu to 3.8ghz and the temps are fine. It will primarily be used for gaming. I’m currently waiting for DDR4 prices to go down so I can up the RAM to 16GB.

-Edit:

Reinstalled Window 10 on 240gb SSD

Upgraded from GTX 1050 Ti to GTX 1060 6GB

Upgraded from Ryzen 3 1200 to Ryzen 5 1600x

Pretty good entry level build here, well done.

I only have only a couple of gripes with it, provided you could've extended a bit your budget. That motherboard is really a bit low end. With just a few bucks more you could've got a different one with 4 dimm slots, for future upgrades. I think also you could've got a 1060 3gb for about 30$ more than the 1050 Ti, and the performance increase would've been significant.

Other than that, it's a really solid first build, hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the input. I must admit, did cheap out in a few areas. Originally, I was set to get a 1060 3gb, but I’ve encountered instances on a different pc where some games actually tore through 3gb of vram so I was willing to accept my losses and give to 1050 ti a shot. I was actually quite impressed with it. As for the motherboard, I completely agree with you 100%. After about 2 hours playing forza horizon 3, the 8gb of RAM is pretty much useless and instead of adding on to it, I’ll have to replace it completely. Other than that I love this build. Again thanks for the input. It’s greatly appreciated.

Horizon chews through some ram for sure. i dig it though, nice build.

I can imagine this is an ideal budget budget build. It looks like it'd crush 1080p gaming. Perhaps look at an SSD in the future?

Yes at 1080p, this build is incredible. Coincidentally, I found a deal on a 250gb ssd 2 days ago for $55 so I’ll be reinstalling windows onto that.

Love the look of that Fractal case and the name you dubbed the build is quite catchy.

You can overclock that cpu to a steady 3.8GHZ with the stock cooler.
